Japanese translation set

Postby tkbd » 16 Jan 2012, 21:23

Hello :)
I translated the message of SuperTuxKart into Japanese. It edited by poedit.
A course name, a character name, and almost all the messages of an except are translated.

Also, in Japanese environment, although some Kanji are displayed as a Chinese font, a hiragana, katakana, etc. are not displayed.
Then, I added the suitable character for a Japanese display as a texture image.

The size of the font is united with the existing Chinese character.
and "M+Font" is used for the texture font.

I uploaded the file described below by zip.

ja.po --------------------------message file
StkFont.xml -----------------add include tag( common file)
StkJapaneseFont.xml ---- font mapping info for Japanese
Mplus2p_JP0.png ---------STK texture image for Japanese

the xml file of mapping was also made another file so that other data might not be affected.

I'm looking forward to growth of SuperTuxKart ^^.

Hi,

thanks a lot! I uploaded the strings to Launchpad ( https://translations.launchpad.net/stk ). I will soon look to integrate the font, too.

Next time though, could you translate directly on Launchpad as described in this article : http://supertuxkart.sourceforge.net/Translating_STK ? Because I was the one to upload the translation, Launchpad now thinks I am the author of the translation and will not credit you. But if you continue the translation on Launchpad then you will receive all due credit.

Hi,

I think I found a wrong translation which is "Is this a RTL language?", in the note it says don't literally translate this string, so it should be "N" :|

And it's said that the Unicode code-point of Kanji are the same as some Chinese characters, so I'm afraid that there will be some compatibility issues of Chinese and Japanese translations... Maybe we should add some check in STK's code (for example, if current language is Japanese then load Japanese font file otherwise load other file)

Hmm as far as I understand in Unicode 2 languages will share code points only if they share the same symbols in their alphabet. I don't think there will be issues
