Some models --> Licensing

rudy85 {l Wrote}:So what are (are you consider) our rights about it ? What will you do about this features , and wil you remove addons from sourceforge ?

Sorry, I don't fully understand

But yes, add-ons on sourceforge will be removed, we will switch to the much better add-ons manager by Xapantu on TuxFamily

What will you do about the features without licence submitted on stkaddons :

Monty (all rights reserved)
Finder (all rights reserved)
Diego (all rights reserved)
Teddy (all rights reserved)
Tarentula
Honke Monkey
Bunny
Bob
Monkey
Catapult

----------------------------------------------------------

Art museum
city skyway
High in the sky
SuperTux Island Resort
Mystery island
Moon base
Industry

http://oldforum.freegamedev.net/index.p ... 9c665596fc
Alors que sur stkaddons certain ont une licence privative et d'autre non :?

Another exemple, Asciimonster haven't gived a licence to the cube ... there is a lot of exemple of the same type

J'espère que tu comprends maintenant mon point de vue

Rudy: we spoke on IRC, but for everyone else, let me repeat what I said on IRC :

searching in forum archives is not a good idea, for the simple sake that we, project leaders, have been learning about licenses too. Not so long ago we didn't know much about licenses. So if you search in older postings you will almost certainly find places where we let license issues slip through. It's not until a Debian packager hit us for being careless about licenses that I started paying attention. So yes this is a process in each we all need to learn

About TuxFamily, yes we will need to clarify the license of everything that is posted there; Xapantu is working on a new version of the add-ons manager. Hopefully we can start clean with the new add-ons manager

With regards to my track, Mystery Island, which is found in the official 0.6 addons pack:
The two wood textures (wood.rgb and woodend.rgb) were created by me. 'sand1.rgb', which is in the 0.6 addons pack... I thought I pulled that one from STK somewhere, but it may have been one of the files removed before the 0.6 release. Regardless, it's origin is unknown, but you should just be able to drop in another sand texture as a replacement. All of the models in the original Mystery Island were designed by myself. "Mystery Island 2", Rudy's modification, doesn't include the offending texture at all.

So with exception to sand1.rgb, everything in that package was created by myself, so the license included applies.
Rudy may need to make some clarifications about the licenses on his modifications to the track.

Hi, I contacted tuxthepenguin, Ivar ten Cate, eliminator and Primotico by email, waiting for answers.
sj04736 already answered.

I did not find how to contact David Mikos and Torren 1994

EDIT: re pipe hill, I have the zip, it contains a license.txt file that says "Released under CC-BY-SA 3.0". Sadly it doesn't say where textures come from

got answer for Audacity :

The AudaCity model is all done by me except for the logo and the name, copyright of the Audacity software. ;)

I'm aware of the implications of the Creative Commons licence 3.0, don't worry. I feel very happy that the community still uses this model.

Yours,

Ok, I got the updated license file from Industry track author :)

Industry Track
Track and textures created by Ivar ten Cate

The track and textures are licensed under CC-BY-SA 3.0, except the following textures:
- brick1.rgb
- concrete2.rgb
- concrete3.rgb
- concrete4.rgb
- concrete_wall.rgb

These textures are from http://trak.mercenariesguild.net/node/3. These textures are licensed under CC-BY-SA 3.0, or GPL v2 or later.

I've contacted chuck submitter today , waiting for an answer ...

This is the message I sent to Tuxthepinguin#1

{l Code}: {l Select All Code}
Hello,

I'm Rudy85 you know me as a contributor of supertuxkart.

You've sent some tracks on stkaddons.tuxfamily.org, but you didn't tell us about licenses of them. I want to port high in the sky and artmuseum to irrlicht (Very good tracks Wink )

But Auria the main developper asked me to have clear kind of licence.

It would be a pity to lose your work

I take advantage of this email to invite to join us again.
STK 0.7 is out today.

and this one sent to Toren1994 :

{l Code}: {l Select All Code}
Hello,

I'm Rudy85 you know me as a contributor of supertuxkart.

I was searching for graphist which made some works for STK to ask them with which licence they share their contribs.

You remember you've give me permission to animate your characters
I've improve your bear to Plee
I've animate tarentula you can see a video here :
http://www.vimeo.com/12145446

I want o port diego to irrlicht too, yes he's fun

But Auria the main developper asked me to have clear kind of licence.

It would be a pity to lose your work

I've contacted them on tuesday 21/12 I'm so impatient of their reply, so I let you remind them

Hi,

I got another answer :

> monkey , bob , bunny , catapult ).
> We are in the process of getting ready to launch a new add-ons website, and

> Therefore, we are asking the author of every add-on to clarify the terms
> under which their add-ons are released. Our license of choice is CC-BY-SA
> 3.0 ( you can see what this implies here :

My add-ons are under the CC-BY-SA 3.0

For the catapult I used Tucho Fernández's texture and model, go here for more info

However I don't know under what license Tucho Fernández released his work

I'm a bit confused about GPL as it applies to art. My understand of the standard source code license is you can modify it pretty much however you wish, but you must release the source code of your modifications as GPL or GPL compatible, if you link your own code to GPL, your code, if released, also must be released as GPL. How does this apply to art? If one track or kart is included as GPL, does that mean the other track/karts have to be GPL as well?

EDIT: I prefer CC-BY-SA 3.0 to GPL. Seems better suitable to art.

If a kart is GPL - just as you explain with code - any released changes to the kart must come with source (.blend or whatever the source is) and be GPL licensed.
