Introducing myself & STK Website Account Issue

Introducing myself & STK Website Account Issue

Postby ArDanWol » 03 Mar 2015, 21:42

Hi everyone,
I'm new on this forum. I e-mailed Sam about wanting to help with STK and an issue getting into supertuxkart.net. He instructed me to post it here.

First of all, I can't draw, compose, or code (hopefully I'll learn to code or draw soon), but I can write. I'd be willing to help with blog posts, help files, documentation, etc. etc. If I could get info about specific areas writing is needed, I'd be glad to help.

Also, I noticed multiple spelling/grammar issues on supertuxkart.net. I wanted to help by fixing these, so I attempted to make an account. I was having trouble getting past the ant-spam question. I filled in ..."uxKart" to complete "SuperTuxKart" but it said that it was wrong. Any help on this?

I'd also be willing to help with 3d art once I learn how. I've attempted to use Blender to create stuff for STK, but I can't get the STK scripts to work with it. If I could get suggestions on this, I'd be willing to give it a shot. ;)
Thank you!

If you are determined, you will be able to apply modifications in code and make great models. It's just your hard work to learn it and nothing more.

If you are looking for something relatively easy in STK, you can try to adopt some add-ons tracks or karts for new STK engine. It's not that hard. In easiest case just add a sun in a track, fix non-transparent textures and re-export. You can actually learn on it.

Here is some info how to install blender scripts:

If you use current git version of STK, always use also current scripts. They can be found here:

I know how to install the scripts, but the GUI elements don't show up in blender.

Did you remember to enable all the stk scripts after installing them?

Yes I did. I'm not sure what's wrong.

Hi, please check in the console if there is any error message. Under linux, start blender from the terminal; under Windows, the console can be shown from the "Window" menu

Also, you did go in blender preferences and activate the addons?

Hmmm... Weird. I did activate the addons, and there was no error message. I just opened a kart file in Blender, and the GUI elements showed up. It doesn't do this when I open Blender from the programs list. Maybe I'll just have to open a kart file and then hit "New Project" whenever I want to contribute. ;)

Thanks GunChleoc! Why didn't I think of that before? :)
