Win 8 cmake problems

Win 8 cmake problems

Postby Alayan » 03 Nov 2014, 18:24

Thanks.
I tried to build with Visual Studio Express 2012 on win 8.1 ; following the online instructions.
I got a "Error in configuration process, project files may be invalid" at the end of the step 5 ; with cmake after having choosen configure.
CMakeOutput.log do not indicate any error ; however it's obvious it didn't work since the is no "solution" for visual studio for step 6. :(

Tried with current code from official repo and got the same issue.

Are there some steps of troobleshooting to follow or will I just be unable to compile with my config ? :|

I don't use any recent Windows myself, so hiker or anyone else familiar with building on it would have to answer, but I don't see any obvious mistake, provided you followed the build instructions on the wiki (putting dependencies in the right place and so on).
Hey pal, I took an oath for justice! "In happy days or tightest tights..." or something like that.

I have never seen this issue, but first why not try the latest version? (VS 2013)

I didn't try with VS 2013 since from what I know it doesn't really add for desktop windows programs but has more changes oriented for the whole "applications" things.
& I double-checked the instructions were correctly followed, with the last dependecies (from 17/09/14) putted where said.

I did try after your suggestion, and not too surprisingly I got the same error with VS 2013. :|

I would try to build it on a linux VM box if only I was able to test correctly the game (except the fact it launches) with it, but the VM lacks too much efficiency & resources for that.
EDIT : unless someone can test instead of me ? If someone is interested let me know !

I'm afraid I don't really know, I have never met this issue and quite a few people build STK on Windows :( there is no other error output? maybe cmake keeps more verbose logs somewhere

I troobleshooted the issue with hiker on IRC. :)
It was a dependencies issue, I took the mingw package instead of the normal windows one. >_>
I still have to add something (an error with stk-assets I don't have), but hopefully it will work soon
