[Poll] What would you like to see improved ?

Postby CryHam » 19 May 2014, 15:11

So I've decided to make a poll. Pick few (up to 6) things that you would like to see improved in next versions (in general future).
Also any comments on this matter are welcome, post below.

Voted:
  • Sounds: surface sounds when driving on specific surface, maybe a quiet gear changing sound, win/lose sounds.
  • Content: add more static objects like houses on tracks to make tracks feel more lively.
  • Graphics: underwater fog/color, sun flare mostly, maybe horizons.
  • User interface: Add outline/shadow to all text and make GUI background more transparent, to allow seeing behind the GUI easier. Also, remake the car screenshots (new textures, more consistent settings).

Italic is for done stuff as of 2014-07-27.

I voted other. I like that you keep developing it in any way plus I haven't played enough to give constructive advice on what to improve.

I would focus on just making it a more polished experience. Think about how a new player will find the game - some tutorial modes perhaps? Career mode? Etc.
Free Gamer - it's the dogz
Vexi - web UI platform

A first run dialog, allowing the player to set resolution, graphics preset, sound volume and their nickname, could be more welcoming. Language is already automatically selected.

I also voted other.
1. somewhat better performance would be nice, but even more important (from what I understand)
2. re-fracturing of code so that this can stop being a one-man show.

Yeah, sorry for having such boring ideas ;)

P.S.: Hovercrafts would be awesome!

Could you write something more about 2.
I did lately split lots of code to CGame, CGui, CData, CScene classes, etc. To be more readable and not so cluttered.
I don't see more things that I could improve in code. And yeah I don't see unwinding shortcuts an improvement, ever, unless sbdy actually does deal so much with the code as I do. You know there were like 3 extra developers in 2012 for maybe 6 months.

Ah I didn't know. I rest my case then, although a scripted gameplay abstraction layer would be nice for modding ;)
