Alpine-2 track from Daniel Schellhammer

Alpine-2 track from Daniel Schellhammer

Postby rubberduck » 16 Jun 2013, 08:03

i tested this track and i think that it is a bit too long, over minutes per round

and there are missing bananas, boxes and nitros

and then i have a small question, what means DFSG-Compiliant on stk-addon-site

Nice looking track, but very boring. Tons of zippers should be added to make this track challenging.

yes, and that would make the track a bit faster (time), like in subsea

and the trees are vere low-quality, also other textures are low quality, better use textures from supertuxkart, they are better

then the lengh is very long, it takes 2: 40 min for a round, that's too loooooooong

there also could be snow-particles and items/bananas/nitros

when the name Alpine-2 is, there should be higher mountains in the track

In my opinion you should not waste your time on this track

I don't want (and i don't have !) to tell rubberduck what he has to do, he is free to do everything he wants but i think there is other importants things than some add on track
That's just my opinion (as always)

If i was able (and i'm currently not :| ) to work on tracks i would like to work on arenas (the little island that is already in the game) that need to be improve for example

We have two mountain track. Snow tux peak and mountain resort.

Mountain resort needs to be updated. It's one of the last track that remain from older version with oliver's classroom.

If anybody is interested he is welcome :)

I don't think it is wasted time. This is a pretty "realistic" track, so a change of pace for the game in the form of an addon is always welcome.

The track is too easy if you like to skid every curve, that way you always leave your opponents behind even in SuperTux mode. If you don't use skidding, then it's somewhat hard track. The lack of boxes, zippers and bananas makes this a very straightforward track, of the "NO ITEMS, KARTS ONLY, FINAL DESTINATION" (?) kind, where the only thing which distinguishes drivers is their driving. I wouldn't be surprised if this track sees a lot of action once online multiplayer mode is added to the game. I wouldn't also be surprised if edited versions of a lot of tracks without bananas, zippers and boxes comes after this one.

I do agree in that it could use some facelift in the graphics area.

EDIT: Also, FOR THE LOVE OF GNU! (?) TRACKMAKERS, STOP USING WEIRWOOD'S KART GRAND PRIX TRACK! It's becoming too annoying hearing the same god-damn music track in every god-damn addon! I know it's the coolest track out there, but it's becoming so repetitive, especially with many other great tunes on the game which are seeing too few use!

The Kart Grand Prix music is the default one in the track exporter - though sadly many (but not all) addon creators seem to not put too much polish into their tracks and thus they don't care (or forget) to change music as well.
