The future of shiny suburb

The future of shiny suburb

Postby samuncle » 11 Sep 2013, 07:24

Hello :).

IMHO I don't like shiny suburb. The style doesn't fit with stk. I have ideas to replace it, but I want your opinion. Let me know what you think about it.

What would be a perfect track or addons to replace it ?
Should we keep the city theme ?
Maybe somebody will want to make a track ?

Sam.

there are two tracks i like

the first is city-lights
http://stkaddons.net/tracks/city-lights

but it looks a bit dark for me and it has some other problems (for example driving issues)

the second track is industry
http://stkaddons.net/tracks/industry

i like this track, it has also some special effects (smoke), there are also source-files, so you can edit the track
for me tihs is one of the best addon-track

I always enjoyed playing shiny suburbs. It is a quite challenging track and looks good. It is one of the few tracks which i have trouble winning. but I agree the style doesn't fit totally. maybe keep the track but change the style?
the industry track is also one of my favorites. i really love racing it. I never understood why it is not included as a default track.
although i like racing the city lights track i'm not sure it is a good replacement, the style doesn't fit STK either IMO. it also feels a litle bloated and i don't like the short-cut.

what are your ideas? i'm curious!

Idea spew:

Keep the track's basic layout if you like but completely redo the scenery:
Basically a semi-futuristic city full of factories and junkyards, with a green, polluted sky, and no sign of plants anywhere. There could be a factory section with conveyor belts that change the kart's speed and such. (Like the track Assembly Lane from Crash Nitro Kart, which by the way has incredible level designs and should be looked up to by anyone making tracks for racing games.)

For a name, "Smogsky City"?

In the Spaceship or Subterrarian cave ( rubberduck tracks) instead of shiny suburb that don't fit at all with Stk universe.
