We need a better object for nitro

We need a better object for nitro

Postby samuncle » 24 Jun 2013, 20:41

Hello :)

Currently we use "nitro bottles" and IMHO it's not the best object. I think we can find something better. Someone suggested to add a glow effect around and that's planned (when cand will finish his glow implementation).

The main problem is, I have absolutely no Idea what we can use instead nitro bottles ^^.

So I'm waiting your propositions and ideas :).

Maybe you can give the bottle a more interesting design, which looks more technological.
Adding a glow effect will let it look pretty cool i think. Just a idea.

Batteries as a replacement item were mentioned here viewtopic.php?f=18&t=3774&p=44184&hilit=battery#p44184. I would recommend a normal AA type battery for the small nitro and a 9v type for the large nitro. The particles would be a lightning 'zap' or something similar. This would be a cool, unique item to make it more interesting.

I like the idea of Batteries :)
Moreover it's greener than bottle of nitro :D

I like the effect with glowing violet circles, but I have planned to use this for the slipstream. Currently it has not dedicated effect :(

Batteries greener than nitro bottles? Neither are especially green [given how toxic battery acid is and how low the rate of proper disposal is].

You could always go with something abstract e.g. stars ("star power!").

You could use a computer term as well e.g. Hertz or MegaHertz instead of nitro.

Here's an idea; a jar of blue liquid. It could glow blue, would be easy to see against anything but water. It also is consistent with the new nitro effect by samuncle/Auria.

This is a good question :) but that's quiet difficult to find ideas

Currently the part where nitro is writtren doesn't look really good, a lightning logo instead of this would be better
The shape of nitro bottle could also be improve.

Another idea could be a "nitro flask" with a sound of broken glass when you catch it (just a supposition) this idea is similar to charlie's one
Something like this:Image ImageImage

I still think about it. (With or without a new object, the glow effect will make it look so cool  )

I like the idea of portion bottles. Maybe with a logo like Image

We need to remember one thing. It's important for the player to immediately see if it's a good or bad item.

Yes. The logo idea is good, we can maybe change its colors :) to make it look "positive" i will try to look at it tonight

we also could use different colors for big nitro and small nitro (we also could use different portion-forms, but i think, that colors would be good for that)

I agree with you rubberduck. Maybe blue for the small nitro and purple for the big one. And of course for both the new glowing effect.

While i agree that logo is a good idea, we should firstly test without it because i was just thinking that when playing with the current nitro bottle, the player can't really pay attention to what is written on it. Maybe it could be more clear like this ? I don't know

I agree with Totoplus62, I have just run a lap in STK, and I didn't really manage to read "Nitro" on the bottle. So is a logo very useful? I don't know... or perhaps a very readable and simple logo.

In my opinion the current nitro bottles are fine - they just need to glow so they are more visible.

I think the batteries are still the best idea. IMO the potion bottles do not fit the STK atmosphere-they remind me more of a Dungeons and Dragons/medieval fantasy game.

imo the current models are fine. maybe you'd like it better with a newer texture? glowing would help a lot. I say stick with the current bottles.

The current models are horrible. They are dull. Even with a glow, they will be dull.

I think I will use blue barrels :). It's logical that the nitromethane is stored in barrels

Even with the white glow, still ugly and dull. NEW MODEL. Honestly, just try it.
