For one I'm not sure I'm convinced, I kind of like that the icon of a weapon looks exactly like the 3D model, it's easily recognised, and less work when we add a new item

Ok but we can't see the plunger ingame and the current one does not really look like a real plunger.
I understand about the cartoon aspect of the icons but my opinion is that picture of 3D model doesn't look really good as an icon :)

I think I like the new version better. Having the icons look like the weapon is good, but the original doesn't look like the weapon anyway ;) in fact, the plunger doesn't really look like anything...
Some people are like slinkies... not really good for anything, but you still can't help smiling when you shove them down the stairs.

I guess a new design of the plunger would let it look more interesting and more like a weapon.
What about adding something like Spikes or something looking dangerous to the plunger?

I think that instead of making it look bad, we could add the plunger on the head of the player who had it (using the christmas place) in the front. Then, it could fall on the road as the wheel in the 3-strikes mode.

Edit: Totoplus's work looks better IMHO

That's what the "hat" feature is for. But actually I think a 3D model of a plunger should be put on the players that got the plunger in their face, not the ones that currently have the item.
Note that for now, that would imply there wouldn't be a Christmas hat, so we should support wearing "many" hats (and that "plunger" hat would be put in such a way that it's in the player's face, not on its head).

Not with the current implementation, but it could be done. Perhaps open a ticket? ATM we have many gsoc students looking for tickets ;)

Hi,

after discussion we came to the agreement that the new icon was better; however what is a bit problematic is that all other weapon icons are screenshots. I think it would be very weird if some icons were screenshots and other were vector art.

So we would need a full set of icons so that all weapons are consistent. I am not sure if you are willing to invest that work?

That's not a problem, it's always a pleasue to do stuff for stk :) my only one problem is (as always) time so i keep this in mind and when i have free time, i know what to do ;)

I guess they have to be close with the original ones.
So Cake, swapper, bowling ball could need work but i think parachute looks really good so it's (maybe?) not necessary to change it. I already made new bubble gum, swatter, basket ball then zipper didn't come from a 3D model so maybe it doesn't need changes (Or something new like a tire in fire :think: ?).

Cake:
OldImage --> NewImage (Now i want to eat cakes :p )

Looks good :) not sure about the bowling ball though, with the reflection I think it looks less cartoonish than before ;) I have committed the plunger and cake icons. Nice work on the cake icon!

I attempt to take account of Auria remarks.
I tried a new approach and look on the internet how to make reflection look cartoon and i choose a more "happy :)" color. The old one used a flat color but i use small variation like a real bowling ball ;)
