Much better, but it really needs a normal map...

Is normal mapping supported. I can create normal maps anyway.

I don't know where to post this ^^ I made an icon for Auria's tuto in the main menu (This is currently a question mark like "help"):

Ps: I create an new icon for suzanne, look at ticket n°590

Woow very beautiful Totoplus62. However I see repetitive patterns in the texture, please avoid it, try to change the repetitive easy to spot parts

We will include it soon.

Ok. "repetitive patterns" You speak about the wood stick right (i'm fixing this) ? Suzanne icon ?
Edit: fixed

It's a mistake :D sorry samuncle. fraang did this but i did not want to create a new topic for the tuto icon (So i used this one because this is a "Texture contribution thread")
It's my fault, sorry again ;)

I think samuncle meant the repetition visible in each individual brick. From the texture image (not the screenshot) you can see the texture repeating almost 3 times (twice clearly) horizontally in each brick.

Actually it's not so obvious in game (in the screenshot) but still it isn't desirable.

Still, he wasn't talking about Totoplus62's icon ^^
I really like it, though I wonder if in-game it wouldn't catch a bit too much the player's attention, and be too big compared to the other ones...Any screenshot of what it looks like in the main menu :)?
And maybe I would make the penguin's eyes wide open instead of half-closed as they are now.

First, Totoplus62 your icon looks really awesome. ;) Could you outline it so it fits better to the rest of the icons?

I have worked a bit more on the textures:

Totoplus62: thanks :) I think it has too many details compared to its neighbor icons, but I don't see how to fix that...maybe try to make the penguin a bit bigger?
fraang: cool texture :) But as I said, I think a normal map is necessary here. I think there is a plug-in in Gimp to create those. As for integration into STK, I think you have to tweak some materials.xml file (see http://supertuxkart.sourceforge.net/Materials_xml ).

Great, I love them! My preference goes to the one with the STK letters.
And I reiterate my remark on the eyes that I would prefer wide open, but that's just my view. Any other opinions?

I also like Totoplus62's little icon with the letters. funto: I think the eyes may be wide open with glasses in front.

If they are in fact glasses, maybe the frames could be altered a bit to make this clearer?

Hi Fraang,

thanks for the delayed answer. I have now added your new textures to the game. Thanks! Looks much better

Do you have the original lossless PNGs?

Totoplus, that icon is cute :) is it entirely by you, or is the tux from somewhere else?

No the tux character was not by me (it was under cc-by-sa), the other things were by me; but i'm able to make a new tux and/or to modify this one (glasses ? Eyes ? as funto suggested) if this one isn't as good enough ;)

@auria is the new suzanne icon good enough ?

Totoplus62, I think your icon looks good :) but I will need to know the name of the person that made the tux, to respect the license
