I'm quite curious about the shortcut you use in Lighthouse Alayan. I've take a look on the file of the track in order to found where is located the check line, try some of way to travel to it and come back and I'm still not able to imagine how you manage to do such a time with only one shortcut by lap.
Can you give us a clue?

I use a similar glitch as for the 3rd and 4th shortcuts.

00:17:88 ; 0 shortcut ; 2 skids. I made a few try before trying to go under the 19:00 ; and suddenly it was a little bit the moment where you go perfectly you don't know how. 09:94 at the end of the first lap.
Snow Peak :
01:04:84 ; 0 shorcut. Didn't count the skid, but something like 16.
Black Hill Mansion :
01:00:12 ; 2 shorcuts (these inside the house) ; 6 skids This track is victim of a "invisible mesh syndrom", just hate it.

Thinking about, I maybe miscount shorcut for Around the Lightouse. Maybe was that which do that Ancalgon didn't find the way I used. I mean, there are the 2 for the checkline, but there are still the 2 classic in the last curve, so it should be 4.

Trying a 6 shorcuts method on Lightouse, after doing 26:76 and 26:78 (was a little bit mad ), finally have done a 25:96 time. (Always 1 skid)
58:67 on Blackhill mansion with same shorcuts/skids.

And Bonifarz, each time you update the new times, you should choose one or two tracks where you will do a time or try to do a better than your previous. It would be cool.

I was quite busy recently with other things, but maybe I will find the time and motivation to share some more mediocre times. On the other hand, it is always nice when other people post new times as well. Either way, main thing is you have fun racing.

Hum, I found a nice shortcut in Lighthouse but at this level, i think it could be consedired as cheating, since it imply driving backward at the start, jumping over the barrier down the cliff and then using the classic cutting of the last curve.

For the shortcut I'm still unsure of how to count it, but if you count one shortcut between two points where you drive forward, then it makes 2 shortcuts by laps (startline-checkline and the final corner)

I manage a 25:03 this afternoon, a 23:89 now, but how damn can you have always 2-3 seconds better as soon as you are aware of the shortcut I discovered. <_<

And Bonifarz, there are mainly Ancalgon and I contributing, having some other times would be cool. And trying, you can absolutely do good times. x)

Maybe we should agree on some stricter rules about abusive shortcuts. The thing I wrote from the very beginning was:

Shortcuts that involve pressing the rescue button are explicitly prohibited here.

Generalizing this to not getting rescued ("cliff dive") hardly makes a difference, while prohibiting driving in the reverse direction is a stronger limitation. Such shortcuts are surely never intended by design, but allowing them here may help to find those and have them fixed. What do you think?

I'm not sure, but maybe you misunderstood something bonnifarz: when the kart fall from the cliff to the road, their is no referee to pick it up. If a referee were involved, since the kart have not yet cross the checkline, nor did any meter forwards, you would only find you back on the startline.

I agree that a lot of shortcuts that we found trying to do better times are not intended and should be fixed.
As we give the number of shortcuts and may help to find how to do it, it remains fair for other players who want to share there times. So I don't think it is an issue to allow them here.

Small update.

I did not have the patience to beat Alayan's time on minigolf, but there is at least some improvement. I like the track, but I cannot drive two laps without making a mistake somewhere.

I´m new here but however i like this game and I saw I´m good at this, so here are my ultimate records:

Shifting Sands: 1:06:37 same 2 shortcuts as Ancalagon i guess

Shiny Suburbs: 1:22:03 using the ingame "shortcut" after that bridge, so i guess, this doesn´t count or does it?

Northern Resort: 1:10:04 no shortcuts skits: ~30

Edit: lol got Bovine Barnyard: 48:66 no shortcuts skids: ~14 xD

Green Valley: 1:33:67 no shortcuts skids: ~26 (that was really hard )

The Island: 1:28:23 no shortcuts skits: a lot!

Amazonian Journey: 1:13:94 no shortcuts skits: ~24

Old Mine: 1:14:84 no shortcuts skits: ~26

Scotland: 1:11:27 no shortcuts skits: ~28 (Also really hard because of low nitro)

Star Track: 1:20:24 no shortcuts skits: lots

Subsea: 2:23:59 no shortcuts (are there any?) skits: ~30

Everything was played with tux kart (There isn´t any difference yet, is there ?) and with no shortcuts, because I´m no fan of this, they can be very embarrassing if you have to do all this work again, just because there´s a freaking shortcut, that u didn´t use and I hope they get patched anytime.
So I will only try tracks with no or only some moderate shortcuts => NO Around the Lighthouse , because I never liked this track, especially now ,because of all those crazy shortcuts.
This also goes to Minigolf Mischief.
So then, more records will be coming soon on other tracks.

As far as I know, there are no kart specific characteristics available yet, but it is a feature on the roadmap of future releases. I just think of the possibility that hitboxes for collision detection might differ on some karts (add-ons?): That might have an effect on the ramping/ jumping as reported by kosmi, but I really assume it is the very same for all karts now.

Agreed, shortcuts can spoil the fun, especially those like in Zen-garden where you cut out practically 85% of the track. And yes, as soon as a shortcut is fixed in a release I will try to skim the boards of times involving that trick. (Release: To keep it simply - an SVN commit is not enough for now, but we can discuss about this rule here.)

This also goes to Minigolf Mischief.

Concerning this particular case, I think three of the shortcuts there are perfectly fine by design: No reverse driving, no crazy off road, just skilled driving involving ramps or obstacles. There's a forth shortcut (which i count as alternate to the third) that could be fixed with some clipping to the right of the windmill, but that one looks intended by design as well. What's your thoughts about this?

Actually now there is one at 01:00:80 It can be even better (maybe under minute ) with perfect start and two perfect jumps ...and lots of perfect skids
