Why my SuperTuxKart is slow?

Why my SuperTuxKart is slow?

Postby isaias970 » 03 Jan 2013, 22:37

hello! I just downloaded the game SuperTuxKart 0.7.3 and
when I play, I get a window that shows everything that makes the game, that is, which is the translation of the game, and find the file, etc.
But when I'm using the game is very slow, and when you finish the game on a track, for example, in the Amazon, the game tells me that it took me two minutes, but in reality is it took forty minutes.
I hope you can help me.
ah, my processor is Intel Celeron CPU 2.66GHz
my ram is 500mb
and my hard drive is 80 gb
my operating system windows 7 ultimate
:)

have you tried 0.8?
I'd suggest doing that first ;)
then if it is still slow, have you turn down all the graphical settings?
Some people are like slinkies... not really good for anything, but you still can't help smiling when you shove them down the stairs.

Sorry, but this system is likely too old/small to run STK: 500 MB of RAM is barely enough to run windows (actually Microsoft recommends 1GB), so your system will likely be swapping. Also the graphics card is important, and I somehow doubt that you have a card that is recent enough to run STK.

STK slows down the clock if it detects very slow frame rates (you probably have around 1 FPS or so ;) ), that's why it reports only 2 minutes.

Sorry!

On my system STK uses about 400 MB of ram on main menu and when I go to Storymode it uses about 650 MB.
(My screen resolution is 1680x1050 and I have graphical settings set to max.)

I assume Windows version of STK uses about same amount of ram and that Windows 7 Ultimate alone eats up all of that 500 MB.
Your system must be swapping most of STK-stuff.

Even if you would have lightweight OS you would need at least 1 GB ram to run STK flawlessly.
On Windows 7 Ultimate something like 2 GB ram sounds good enough for STK.
