Allright as for swatter I will begin (because of work) tuesday or wednesday and will show you next saturday a new icon.

(I don't really know how to change a square texture because the final 3D model is a sphere ? ? I will try.. )

I know it was just a concept. At the moment I'm redoing it. But consider that concept art. Is the idea good?

It is still the ugliest weapon in the game, and the texture looks terrible.

I guess it is up to somebody to just come up with a better idea. Particles may also be a way of making it look better?

This is just that the "dark holes" of this texture are too big ! and the color is weird. I will try to do it when i have free time (Now i'm working on this new icon but i need time )
The actual bouncing ball is really ugly

Hmm, I'll improve some of the textures I've posted here and re-post them and let's decide on a direction. Which one you want and then suggest improvements.

I can take that basket ball and redo it completely with smaller dots. But I'm afraid that's the colour of a ball. I have one to prove it with if you want...

I can probably do that... let me just try it.

Sorry but I can't do lines. Hiker didn't leave a source .blend when he made that ball so I don't know the scaling of the unwrap or anything. If I had the source I could practically paint the lines on in Blender and then make them look good in GIMP.

Just a note: The smiley ball is a small triumph for me. Finally figured out the paths tool.

Just posting the square textures isn't going to solicit a decision. Either show a screenshot of the texture wrapped in a sphere or, even better, a screenshot in game.

Yes I'd like it wrapped on a sphere too but as I said Hiker didn't leave the source. In the game I have a severe case of keyboards are evil so I can't give myself balls when I want them. And further more I often completely miss the screenshot.

Surely wrapping a texture onto a sphere is a fairly standard procedure in Blender?

No it's not. Some people might unwrap it face by face or with unwrap or sphere projection. One may also scale it differently.

hero, you don't need a .blend of the ball. It's just a sphere...

And to unwrap a sphere, just press U in edit mode and choose sphere projection. Blender has already an algorithm to unwrap spheres.

I'll do that but I maintain that there are multiple ways to unwrap and anyone can always scale it. But I'll try.

Okay, I used a sphere (no edits), sphere projection, and no edits to the unwrap. Played it as a game and took screenshots.

As far as I can see there are no problems with unwrap except an odd "Dairyland Swerl" on the top. This can be fixed if edited.
