save compatibility-futureproofing...

Postby Danfun64 » 15 Nov 2012, 03:27

Hello. Out of curiosity, when the final version of 0.8 is eventually released, will it be compatible 0.8 alpha saves? I don't want to repeat the process of beating the story mode... On an unrelated note, will there be a cutscene before
the final boss fight with Nolok
?

edit: why don't spoiler tags work?

Probably. There are some changes still happening, but I don't think that this will affect save games. Some tracks and challenges have changed (new "Shifting Sand" tracks and therefore different challenge), so you might miss them, but the challenge name is the same, so STK will assume that you have still solved them (highscores is a bit of a problem, since the new track is longer, so you won't be able to match your old highscore values).

On an unrelated note, will there be a cutscene before
the final boss fight with Nolok
?

Not likely in 0.8, animations are just too much work, and we want to get 0.8 out. Of course, contributions welcome ;)

No idea, I assume it's not part of the standard set of tags?

It isn't in the list. FreeGameDev probably doesn't have it. If it's in other PHP forums it's not on this one.

@hiker: i know that animations take time, and I don't think the whole game should be flooded with cutscenes, but if there was one moment to add a cutscene, that was it.

@Hero: It isn't on the list... it should be :P.

How do you know it should? This may be an earlier version or it was disabled.

Enable Javascript or get a browser that supports it and then you can use the smiley collection. :D

Also you can do:

{l Code}: {l Select All Code}
:)  ;)  :D      :|  :?  :o     :(  :p  :x    :eew:  :!:  :by:  :sa:  :pd:  :zero:  :bsd:  :gpl:  :mit:  :zlib:

Just write them in and they will turn into Smileys. No Java required.

Hi,

I actually agree, but it would postpone the release of 0.8 for another month or two, and it's already too late. Plus we might also need more voice acting (and besides Nolok we might even need something for the challenger to say, and we don't even know which character that would be), and getting good voice actors (for free) is difficult - we were quite lucky. But any suggestions for a cut scene is welcome (and even more if someone creates the animation in blender ;) )

Re Smily: use a lowercase p, then it works :p
