Need help with sound recording

Postby ChemBroTron » 04 Nov 2012, 19:51

Hello!

I recorded a video about SuperTuxKart a while ago and because of the 0.8 alpha release, I wanted to record an update video, but for some reason, I cannot record the sound this time.

I use "glc" for recording games in Linux. "glc" needs alsa. And of course alsa is the only option (or maybe openal, dunno) for SuperTuxKart, but I can't get any audio out of glc and I would like to know, why that is.

My first question in getting to the root of the problem would be: Is there a way to force SuperTuxKart to use alsa directly?

OpenAL always uses alsa, because there is no alternative for it here on my machine. I only want to figure out, why glc stopped recording sound. Or maybe it has a problem with OpenAL. *shrugs*

Okay, I fixed it in buying a second sound card and putting the line-out of the first in the line-in of the second. Video is here:

Also is the white wall in the X-something track on purpose or is this a bug? (at the end of the video with the curiosity rover)
