Translation question

Translation question

Postby GunChleoc » 26 Oct 2012, 11:43

I have a question regarding a string in CamelCase

IntroCutscene

I18N: ./data/tracks/introcutscene/track.xml
I18N: ./data/tracks/introcutscene2/track.xml
I18N: ./data/tracks/endcutscene/track.xml

Is this an internal string or is this shown in the game somewhere? if it is shown, is it a title?

I think this are the directions to the track.xml for the cutscenes. The track.xml decides the track name, it's creator, etc..

Thanks!

So, I just keep it in English then?

I would think so, yes. If you changed it the game might not work.

GunChleoc, oops indeed this one has no need to be translated. Unfortunately because of the way things work at this time the string is getting extracted along others. For now please just ignore this string ( or do whatever you want with it, it will likely just disappear in the following days :) )

Hero: when in doubt, PLEASE let us answer, your speculation is not helpful to people seeking answers... Parts of what you said is jsut wrong.

Thanks.

Maybe you could add a developer comment to such strings in the future, if that is easily done?

No need, they should disappear from launchpad in the following hours :)

I didn't mean this particular one, but in general. Unless this kind of thing can't happen again anyway ;)

I have another question for my translation (version 0.8. alpha):

Eliminated

Located in src/states_screens/race_result_gui.cpp:322 src/states_screens/race_result_gui.cpp:679

Who gets eliminated? Me, any other player, or both me or any other player?

Also, how can I get the Story Mode to start from the beginning again? I have some issues with string length and need to see the strings in-game so I can test.

To start story mode change all the "true" in the challenges file to "false" or just create a new user.

I would recommend using the second method. changing everything to false would skip the opening cutscene, and as a translator, I think you don't want that ;)

Forgot. The "First Time" would have to be changed to true stating that it is your first time and therefore a cut-scene is required.

Yeah, that's actually the only thing needing to be changed, unless you want to start challenges from scratch again as well.

Thanks, that did it, I just created a new player. :D

Any ideas on the "Eliminated" string?

This string is displayed instead of the time for karts that have given up the race (i.e. will be placed on last position). This feature was introduced so that you don't have to finish a race in a GP if you are too far behind anyway.

Thanks for helping us with translations!

I've got another one:
VS
I18N: ./data/gui/soccer_setup.stkgui

What does "VS" mean?

"against"

but soccer mode might still change so I can't swear there will be no string changes in this area
