Auria {l Wrote}:sorry, I don't think there is a way at this time to make a speed boost without the effects to go with it. That could be a feature request but I can't tell you when it could be ready given how small a team we are

I don't have time to test atm, but setting speed-gain to 0 should do the trick. Again, please read data/stk_config.xml:
{l Code}: {l Select All Code}
<!-- time is the time a zipper is active. force is the additional
zipper force. speed-gain is the one time additional speed.
max-speed-increase is the additional speed allowed on top
of the kart-specific maximum kart speed. Fade-out time determines
how long it takes for a zipper to fade out (after 'time').  -->
    <zipper time="3.5" force="250.0" speed-gain="4.5" max-speed-increase="15"
            fade-out-time="1.0"  />

Speed-gain is the one time instant speed boost you get. If you set this to 0, only the increased force will work, which will (slowly) accelerate the kart.

Now, I don't know if this will work, but what if you use the slowdown option and put a negative value into Slowdown amount and Slowdown time (or whatever they're called)? I haven't tested this or anything, I just thought you could try it.

Slowdowns are specified in %of max speed, and only one (of potentially two or three) slow downs will be applied (the smallest one). So I don't think that you can misuse it - nor that there is a need ;)

Have you tried modifying the zipper settings? If you can't get good values, feel free to post your track here, and we will have a look.

Why does this always happen to me? :x
My hard disk crashed and I lost all my data, only pretty old backups exist, but none of them include my track... I'm sorry but I don't know when I will restart making this or another track :(
What I learn from this? Make more backups more regularly...

@ctdabomb: Actually I'd like to help developing SuperTuxKart, but I only know C++ and have less experience in it, I'm also actually busy writing my C# game engine since I'm too lazy for C++ most of the time... :D

You didn't learn.

What you should have learnt is release early, release often. If you had regular WIPs here or used github or another form of source control, this would not be an issue at all. Back ups of your entire HD are usually a waste of time.

I ususally backup all my data in one step, but if a crash happens right an hour before backup, you won the lottery of bad luck.
