Leaderboards

Postby ShaiShap » 09 Jun 2012, 19:50

Hi everyone,

Since STK does not currently have online leaderboards (by the way, are there plans to make any?), is anyone interested in some "home made" leaderboards? A web page, or even a forum thread where everyone shares their best results in each track (preferably with a screenshot or video)?

I'm very curious to know how my driving compares to everyone else. And more than that, I need some new goals to drive to, after finishing the built-in challenges.

Here's a challenge for you. My favorite track for Time Trials is "What a mesh" by Magne Jupvik. Can you finish three laps in under 47 seconds? (My best time is 46:14)

I made a ticket for this (A Time Trial leaderboard) a while ago; the ticket was taken up and I think was dropped by Term1nal with no progress made :(

I have made one or two posts where me and Crend traded Time Trial records, I am sure you can find them under My Posts if you are interested.
Also I used to occasionally go in the IRC and post times but there weren't many interested, so I stopped doing it.

If there is really a lot of demand, Maybe I could make a post and I could keep track of the major Time Trialed courses on it...

It would need to be stickied by Auria/Joerg probably to keep track of it . Good idea or no?

I don't see why not. Perhaps the more competitive among us will get some fun out of it. :)

a tournament would be cool! (I would be willing to set it up/run it)people tell me if they want to participate, I set up a bracket, people report their scores......

would people be interested?

You can't do tournaments w/out online mode ;)

you can, it is just not the most convenient. I set up a bracket, people race the track they are supposed to, and submit their times to here(or wherever) we compare the two times of the people "racing" and the "winner" moves on.

Excellent! I'm on my way there.

Wow, that is a very... "unusual" track. For now I'll work on getting under one minute, then we'll see about 47 seconds :D

I think such tournaments might be nice for occasional one-time challenges - the leaderboards will have results for 3-lap time trial, and occasionally a tournament will require something a little bit different. But I think it's better to wait with it for a while, and try to get the leaderboards going first.
