Gameplay Commentaries

Gameplay Commentaries

Postby Elevory » 09 Apr 2012, 22:08

I'm getting back into Red Eclipse after about a year of absence. Much to my dismay, I returned to find the playerbase smaller than ever. So, in light of that, I threw together some gameplay videos of random instagib matches. Maybe these will introduce a few people to the game.

EDIT: A third video and fourth video.

Thank god, I thought I was the only one making videos on this seemingly unknown game :D this is one of the best way to get this game known: show people the game. A commentary is also nice too. But as long as videos of this game are out there, more people will wonder "Just what is this Red Eclipse that this man talks of?" and people will want to try it out, thus increasing our playerbase (if people like it).

Smaller than ever? The community is bigger than it has ever been! You've obviously just gone on the servers at the wrong time of day :P

Thanks for the comments! I made another video with recently relearned knowledge of the game. And it's slightly less scatterbrained than the first two, check it out: http://youtu.be/puThPq37rk4

Some of you guys might be in it, haha.

Yeah, you're right. I do tend to play rather late. The community is still too small for my liking, though.

@9:07: I know you like bots, we all do, but humans are more likely to respond in a way to "good game". Next time, what about using room chat (T or Enter) instead of team chat? :P

Sorry for the randomness, just noticed and felt the need to tell this so I can sleep at night again.

But I agree, the community is still smaller than the game deserves it to be, but it's bigger than games like Xonotic, luckily. Peaks of around 35 players are a reasonable number.
Hats, Afros, wings and raptor feet. This game is showing progress indeed.

Hahaha! Good eye. I'll keep that in mind for next time.

Something a lot of people seem to neglect is that with a little variable editing, this game can be REALLY pretty, lending itself well to some YouTube videos like the one I made here - http://youtu.be/vrGH45pubcc

Haha, i actually played around with explosions while I was testing the alt-fire of the rocket. I made it so that I could shoot multiple rockets in a row and they travel slow so that they can hit one area, like an airstrike!!! :D but I had to tone down the blast radius so that the kickback didn't send you flying across the map (Echo).

Messing with variables is always fun, and I think its also another thing that makes this game stick out from most other games. just about EVERYTHING IS CUSTOMIZE-ABLE. I was in a server with some FD guys and they modded the shotgun to alt-fire explosives like a grenade launcher (sorta like that better than the shrapnel ball but eh, whatever).
