LAN Help

Postby joshua_cohen » 28 Mar 2012, 17:37

Hey so I've just downloaded Red Eclipse and I'm attempting to get a LAN game going. I've been through the configs and the server starts fine, but I keep getting an error trying to connect to the master server. Is there any way to make it so it does not look to play.redeclipse.net for a server list and only on the local LAN? It looks like I might have to create a master server locally?

Thanks for the help.

you can just do

/connect ...<ip>...

in the console once the server is started

You can set the server to be LAN-only by either executing it with the -ss0 option or by adding the corresponding option in your servinit.cfg:
{l Code}: {l Select All Code}
servertype 0

Likewise you could disable the client looking for the master server via -sm or in init.cfg:
{l Code}: {l Select All Code}
servermaster ""

But really, I think the errors regarding the master server should be fine to simply ignore, if you are only working with LAN.

If you want a LAN game going, you don't need to connect to the master server. Just start it up, and when someone wishes to connect, just type /connect <SERVER IP> [PORT] [PASSWORD] into the console.
