Very good game!

Very good game!

Hi
just want to say I'm impressed where this game has come to over the years!
Very polished, great game design, graphic design, cool movement. Good balance and weapon design.
Much fun and challenging to play.
It feels like UT a bit, but in a very good way!

This is the best game that ever came out of the cube family in my opinion!!

Thanks! I always believed the Cube engine was capable of everything we needed and so much more, it is nice to know that the years of work paid off :) There's always room for improvement, but I think we've done awesomely with pure open source code and content. I played a lot of the original Unreal Tournament back in the day, so it has been one source of inspiration and I've tried to take cues from all the games I've enjoyed over the years, like; Quake, Team Fortress, Mirror's Edge, Prince of Persia, etc. Everyone comes away from the experience with their own impression and sense of nostalgia, works rather well, hehe :P

I enjoy it too for serveral reasons and nostalgia certainly is one of them, but it has some unique elements like the parkour that are hard to find in other games. Also the maps are top notch and I like the developers sense to keep on improving, this always makes it always a nice surprise to see what other things you've got up your sleeve :)

Talking about the cube family, have you every heard of Marble Arena 2? It is another recent game built on the cube 2 engine, showing what this thing is capable of :) Not really a game for the killer in you guys, but worth checking out and it has some fun challengens.

I played some Marble Arena 2 and I gotta say, for a Cube game its pretty well done. I found it to be really fun.

On topic though, I was upset when Blood Frontier ended and when I first heard about Red Eclipse, I was a tiny bit skeptical saying to myself "What's Red Eclipse?" but I'm glad I found it. I think this is the only arena game i've ever played that has made excellent use of parkour. I'm glad you mentioned Mirror's Edge quin because that's one of my alltime favorite games :D good story for those who wish to try it (and can run it lol).

Hey, we could use your thread to list all things we like in RE in order to keep the best sides of the game, in contrast to the typical wish list for the next version.
my points:
_the movement abilities and kicks :)
_death messages
_whole design and playermodel
_fast gameplay
_the weapon collection (until now)
_userfriendly editor with all of it's abilitis and variables
...

There are more things, but I have to think it over calmly and maybe someone else has more facts.

FREERUNNING

I got half the flag captures for my team in one CTF because I took the shortest distance between two points(straight line btw)... which mostly involves disregarding the fact that the level even has a floor, and ignoring stairways/ramps and other more conventional means of getting from place to place. Also, gravity is for [insert derogatory slang term here]s.

edit: also, the editor. even though I don't have the time to make my own maps.
I lost the game.

Oh, I was unaware of this. Well, I'll be going back to gravity then I suppose.

[offtopic]My interpersonal skills aren't the best, and text isn't good at transmitting emotion. what is the tone of voice here? (serious question not a joke I fail at reading emotion online because of this that's why I use lots of smileys :l ) [/offtopic]

also, this game's community (which I hope I didn't offend just now) looks awesome. =)

That was meant more jokingly, I'm not truly gay but I would generally prefer guys.
At any rate, I'd hate to burst your bubble but why don't you join our IRC chat once? You'll notice that the community mostly consists of, well, assholes. Don't expect too much of them :P
