There are three ways you can get banned:
1. By a global moderator: These bans are always temporary and only affect one server. Abuse of this power will result in revoked moderation rights for said person.
2. By a server owner: These bans are most likely permanent and only affect that server. The server owner may alert other server owners or own more servers on which he can ban you. As the servers belong to the server owners they have the right to ban players for whatever reason they want, even if this reason is something along the line of "I feel like it".
3. By a developer/administrator: These bans are most likely permanent and affect all public servers.
Because of this, saying honestly if you will be banned is hard to do. If such a thing happens and a server owner notices it, it is possible you will get banned from that specific server, but that won't impair your ability to play on other servers. If a global moderator bans you, this will be temporary and therefore isn't something you should worry about, seeing as one-off cases are generally not reported to an administrator. If you get banned from all servers, which seems to have happened to you, it's a good idea to visit the forums as you did or our IRC chat.
Now, to answer your points:
2.1: Such behaviour frequently happens to "test" a cheat. I'm not accusing you of cheating as I've seen no evidence for or against you, I'm merely talking about previous experience as a moderator here.
2.2: A limited range that is still relatively high would cause a lot of players to be killed instead of all.
2.3: Some servers may record demos which show what happened. If the server recorded those, the server owner should have access to these files. You can also record a video yourself by typing /movie followed by the name you want to save the video as (for example, "/movie test"). You can stop recording by typing /movie without anything behind it. Please note that these files are generally of quite low quality which may make it hard to see things and are stored uncompressed, causing them to have big filesizes.
2.4: Besides it being a "glitch", it could technically be a server setting as pretty much every single variable on a server can be changed. If this would be the case, you would be able to see strange values for a weapon under "variables -> weap" for said weapon.
2.5: Moderators should be sure something is happening before accusing someone, so accusing before being sure is a fault entirely on their side.
I would understand this has barely helped you, and I apologize for that. I still hope I at least answered some of your questions in a way you seem fitting. As I haven't seen any prove of either guilt or innocence, it is hard for me to judge this situation.
Hats, Afros, wings and raptor feet. This game is showing progress indeed.
