Level statistics

Hi,

Edward_Lii {l Wrote}:At the moment if you try to get a gold medal for a level you'll automatically enter the next level, which you have to quit and then you can see if you've succeeded.

I'm not sure if it's a good idea :| for example if you have already got a gold medal and want to beat the WR...

Sorry if I'm unclear but I stated a downside of the current system.
If you want to beat your record you can't restart the level after reaching the exit without going back to the level select menu.
IMHO this isn't good and since we're going to add a popup anyway I thought it would be great to see if you broke your record (and which medal you earned).
This way there's no need to go back to the levelselect menu to see if you've broke your record and earned a medal.

Which makes me think of something different, we could add a world record system just like in XMoto.
Probably not for 0.3 but it's something worth considering. (We could even create a diamond medal for when you're the WR holder  )
And an option to see the record of the record holder.

how good do you have to be to get a gold/silver star? it seems like to get a gold one you have to get under 2s :( that doesn't seem right.
Some people are like slinkies... not really good for anything, but you still can't help smiling when you shove them down the stairs.

To get a silver/gold medal you'll have to beat a set value.

At the moment most levels don't have one and this means that beating the level is bronze and no recordings is silver.
So if no target value is set for that level it's impossible to get a gold medal.

Currently the only levelpack that contains targets is the tutorial levelpack.

Perhaps if no targets are set winning the level should be enough for gold?

Hello ctdabomb,

ctdabomb {l Wrote}:no it should probably just be bronze.

Could you explain why you think so?
Because in my opinion it should be possible to get gold on every single level.
In case a level doesn't have targets set it will be impossible, by changing it so that when no target is set winning is enough to get gold will make it achievable.

Besides that silver can be earned by winning levels without using your shadow in case of levels without targets.
This means that if a levelpack has no targets some levels might have silver while most will have bronze and leaving the player clueless on howto earn gold.

well the choise is up to you.
I thought that because if there are no set targets, .......... i forgot why, but your reasoning is right, gold would better than bronze.

maybe though it should be silver since if there are no targets you shouldn't be able to get an award for a thing there isn't an award for............... sorry, I am confusing my self and probably you.
gold is best.

IMHO it the icon should be bronze, but for detail information it should says "not avaliable for this level" :|

Somehow I still think that gold is best.
The message "not available for this level" could still be shown but doesn't that mean that there are no more challenges left for the player?
And thus completed the level completely, which should be Image

Hi Edward_Lii,

I have implemented level stats and auto-save record select GUI, please have a try and give feedbacks :)

You're right; yesterday I have already implemented and uploaded.

Wow looks great! :D

I'm not sure about the selection marks around the selected level, perhaps it should be a thick line?

The GUI for the level stats is good, perhaps the target time/number of recordings should be visible.
This way the user will be able to see why he only got bronze or silver and how close he is.
Another thing about the GUI, wouldn't it look better if the background is slightly dimmed to mark the level stats area?

Replays are great the only problem is that the three/four play icons are a bit overwhelming.
I think this should be changed to one flashing R in the upper left corner (with the time next it).

Anyway it is looking great already! :)

Yes we need some artwork :|

Of course, if we can make more room to put it...

It's up to you ;) PS: At first I'm thinking of a youtube-style big play icon in the center of screen

Hello acme_pjz,

acme_pjz {l Wrote}:Of course, if we can make more room to put it...

It should be easy to see your fastest time and the time to beat, same for the number of recordings.

 , not sure that's something we should include.
However it made me realize that features like pause/jump/fast forward/backward would be cool.
This will take some effort, especially the fast forward/backward.
