I made some screen to explain what detailed texturing can bring to both gameplay and look.
I used Sauer because the map are really well thought and designed.

Textures variation are both good for gameplay and look and allow to keep good performance.
You don't have to make it building, it can be some tech structures like in screen 3

Try to draw edges and shapes

Also I see that some RE maps would need few more texture love.
