New suggestion: bowling ball + banana = explosion

It looks weird when you fire a bowling ball ahead and it just goes through a banana and nothing happens.

There should be at least an explosion. :)

Oh, and I forgot - the same thing should happen when the ball hits a gift box. ;)

Not sure if I agree with the idea; when I shoot something, I expect to either miss or hit a kart. Making weapons explode on items could be frustrating where the whole width of the road is covered with items of one kind or another. For example on the split bridge in Minigolf, you would be hard pressed to not hit some item and have it explode in your face if you throw a bowling ball and want to hit a kart along the fence.

I would tend to agree with that. I never thought it being much of a problem. Using it for bananas would probably work, since it would allow you to find a better way by blasting some bananas away, but I don't think items should be affected.

yes, I agree that ideally something should happen, but I don't think an explosion is the nicest idea ;) Maybe the bowling ball could continue rolling with a banana peel stuck around it ;P

Hey, that's a rather nifty idea. :)
It wouldn't be too consistent with other items though, so I'm still partial to leaving things as they are and not make items interact with weapons.

Slippery bowling ball peel stuck around it.

A fliyng cake touch a banana.
Then it made that banana dissapear.

A kart touch a banana
1) Did you can made banana slippery option.
2) Banana can be also an item option. (a kart can place banana on the ground when it whant)

There should be an oil puddle which would make a kart, that would drive in it, uncontrollable. But a slippery banana (new malicious randomly choosen item) does not sound as a bad idea.
