LuckyStrike-Rx {l Wrote}:My favorite is team survivor (it also cool with arena as it don't broke gameplay that much) I would be happy if I could find a Arena team DM sometimes :)
I love Survivor! It makes me sad that no one ever chooses it :( I like it because it emphasizes teamwork. You NEED to play as a team to come out victorious, because you've got one life :P It's pretty much CoD's Search & Destroy without the bomb (which is how basically everyone plays it anyway, lol) People actually working together as a team is an ever decreasing thing to see in FPS's :/ Everyone just wants to be on their own. I rarely see someone actually use team chat in game, and I hardly have a need for it since no one plays as a team -_-
LuckyStrike-Rx {l Wrote}:To back on topic, the more there is 'odd' gameplay mutator, the harder it will be to find a pleasing game for everyone. [. . .] where you know that whatever server you choose, you'll most probably play something clean, balanced, and pleasant 80% of the time.
I like mutators, it allow some variant on gameplay to keep interest, I just think reducing the number of oddies would not be a bad idea. Insta is Insta, no need to make this more complicated.
It's just my opinion about area game, only involve myself, and I know that Red Eclipse is all about customization, but maybe having a balance between customization and possibility to get a 'clean' gameplay for all users.
I couldn't agree more, Lucky. Variety and customization are things I've always been a fan of, (I'm a customization whore) and I like how this is possible even with the actual Gameplay in RE, yet I do agree we should balance the customization. And what better way to do that than with more customization! Quin's idea is brilliant. Let server owners decide a limit on mutators. It will be their choice on how many to allow at once, or even no restriction.
Their customization. I dunno, it just seems like a really logical choice.
A more ideal solution, which unfortunately I think would take a fairly sized source edit, would be to add the functionality to set allowed/disallowed mutator combos as svars. That way a server admin could REALLY customize how they want mutators to be/not to be used.
[SLIGHTLY OFFTOPIC]
What's the difference between: "sv_
varname" and "
varname"? Are they simply aliases? Or do they represent something convoluted that I haven't noticed?
