Recording games?

Hey :D just a question, is it possible to record a game or grab a replay from a server after you've played a game?

I'm not sure if there is .dem / demo support, havent seen any. But you can do /movie <name> to record or use something like Fraps to record.

Yes, /movie "moviename" will record game footage in .avi format.

To stop recording, type /movie again into the console.

Of course there is. If you're admin, you can do /recorddemo 1 to enable demo recording for the next match. /listdemos to list demos saved on the server, /getdemo N to get one (N is the number of the demo to get, if N is not given, gets the last one), /demo <filename> to play it.

Is it possible to have /recorddemo set to 1 automatically for a server every match?
That'd especially be handy on the play.redeclipse server for getting multple perspectives of gameplay footage.

Fraps is best for game recording. I use it for this game. U can also use PlayClaw, or get a screen recorder and put the game in windowed mode (There are ways to get these programs for free...) . NCH software has a screen recorder or you can download Hypercam for free. (There are ways to get these programs for free...)

I'm sorry but for being recorded with fraps, its not the best quality, and noone wants to hear your comlpletely unrelated commentary about how your going to upload halo videos and such. very poor example.

Yeah that was terrible quality, really bad. What the hell is with the HUGE random image promoting your name? We can see your sig and video, that is more then enough man ;)

Personally I'd like to have demos available client side, be able to play back & record demos either to a huge group of tga/png and put it all together and then grab audio separate, warsow style recording.
Or.. and more convenient for everyone: demos plus lossless recording of audio & sound like ioquake3 provides.

Idk who told you fraps isnt best quality but it really is if you checked out any comparison videos. Do your homework.

I record several games with fraps. so why dont you 1) read what i said correctly, 2) do your homework seeing as i have several red eclipse videos on my youtube (you can tell which are fraps and which are /movie).
what are your settings, let me guess:
30fps fullsize? on a small 17' screen?
Mine are:
60fps halfsize on a 30' screen.

i also have Blood Frontier, which is a direct bloodline to the game which we come to know as Red Eclipse. So history isnt a problem bro (a class in which u probably failed). And no, I run 72fps fullsize on a 24" screen. get it straight. 72fps because of refresh rate. And if Fraps isnt best, what is?

cool thing about forums, i can quote exactly what you said:
Kitsune {l Wrote}:I'm sorry but for being recorded with fraps, its not the best quality,

so yeah, you can stop telling me u didnt say it wasnt best quality. you clearly say "ITS NOT THE BEST QUALITY". Need me to sound out the words for you, dear?

Kitsune is stating that the video footage in your video is bad quality (which it is) it's pixelated and choppy. Also you run fraps at 72fs while the FPS meter on your game is showing you have 25-40 FPS, you might as well set:
/maxfps 30
When you record game footage and maybe turn some setting down for consistent smoothness.

Also please lose the attitude impersona, simple reading comprehension on your part would have stopped you getting out of hand like this over one little comment that is, well, right.

Edit:

Heres a quick test with the ingame recorder, settings:
/maxfps 30
/moview 0
/movieh 0
/moviefps 30
1600 x 900 on 24" 1920x1080

Output: 2.6GB
Converted with handbrake to .m4v, all original sizes and settings no loss of quality -> 28mb

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsxwKtrAz7c

As a side note I couldn't find to change the movie quality, the output looks like 90% of lossless, youtube seems to make it worse (especially 480p, 720 looks better) also but not too bad.

Umm sure dude. whatever you want to believe. but reading comp is what i used. cause its not choppy. the reason its pixelated is because of resolution .settings are fine. this isnt my first fps bro. been doing yt vids since before most on this forum.

I doubt he needs it, but I'm going to sound his response out for you.

Kitsune's quote with missing comma & apostrophe for clarity:
Kitsune {l Wrote}:I'm sorry, but for being recorded with fraps, it's not the best quality.

Two versions of his sentence to show exactly what he was talking about:
I'm sorry, but given that your video was recorded with fraps, it does not have the best quality.
The video you posted does not have the best quality given that it was recorded with fraps.

P.S. Please learn some basic grammar skills, inpersona64.

I doubt I need the grammar skills when someone who clearly didnt use punctuation to clarify what she wrote, well, didn't say what they were trying to say correctly.

Enough of the trolling though. Lol. You people get way too serious. I don't see links of you guys winning any games.
