aoeui {l Wrote}:Hi, I have problem running STK with my snes-controller because when I bind the turning to the d-pad it keeps turning even if I let go of the d-pad, it works fine if I bind it to the L and R buttons to turn, it seems that STK interprets the d-pad as an analog d-pad.

My system is Ubuntu 11.04 amd64 and found this in supertuxkart-0.7.2-rc1-linux-glibc2.12-x86-64.

STK is fun to play nevertheless :)

Hi,

I would tend to think this is a driver issue. You can run STK this way :

$ supertuxkart --gamepad-visualisation

(make sure STK is configured to run in windowed mode and not fullscreen before doing this!)
Then press the buttons on your gamepad and check if they remain stuck

I did run "supertuxkart --gamepad-visualisation" and it didn't stuck there, and the controller has worked with all emulator I have tested, I haven't had any problem with my snes controller until now, the controller connects as a standard HID-device.
Edit: I am using this adaptor http://www.mayflash.com/pc/pc044/pc044.htm

Edit2: Nevermind manage to fix it myself, changed some settings in 'input.xml' changed 'character="0"' to 'character="1"' for the d-pad, not that I know what that setting do but it fixed my problem anyway :)

Hmmm that's weird, "character" is usually for keyboards :o Is your gamepad somehow mapped to a keyboard?

Do not think so, but I may be wrong, it has always shown up as joystick buttons (axis for d-pad) in emus and games, but it is a standard HID-device so maybe it is?

Hi Xeno,

thanks for your work. I agree that we then should provide a separate package - thanks for doing this!
...
This package is for Win 2000 SP4, XP without SP, and XP SP1 systems.

So it is indeed the case that we need different versions for XP SP2, vista, windows 7, right?
*sigh*

Let's see how many downloads we get for windows 2000 :)

Cheers,
Joerg

I've tested the RC1 yesterday (I thought I'd downloaded the RC2 but I realized not =_='), and on my little old macbook, I was very happy to find the framerate was as good as in STK0.7. So this problem seems to have been fixed :)
