Idea: Show Sportmanship after a Grand Prix?

Make the 3 AI finalist applaud once they are above the pillars.. As of now, they kind of look awkward up there doing nothing.

If you have 3 ai finalists at the end of a grand prix, you're doing it wrong. ;)

Great idea. This can go alongside the idea of creating a "drive cycle" for every character in the selection menu.

What a joke, there are more than 20 characters for STK. Improving tracks is more important, now.
So I request that kart animations won't evolve until 0.8. I think have a "Yippee sound" is an idea more interesting

What about the cube ? Which license you give to this track ?

Please, Rudy, don't speak about multiple topics in one thread. The Cube really doesn't belong here. :|
Regarding the idea, I think it would be really awesome if some blender artists are getting around to it. This would make the game even nicer. :)

Personally, I think spending time on GP ending animations isn't nearly as useful as adding animated objects to existing tracks. But if someone wants to do it, I won't ever object. ;)

Maybe winning-animations could be played instead ?

You can't control in which direction your kart goes after winning a Grand Prix, therefore it is the AI taking over.As for priorities, this was just a an idea I had since I spend most of time playing Grand Prix. I was not expecting this to show up on the next update or release candidate (I thought I specified that in the first post, but apparently I forgot to include it. Sorry). Basically, the idea was that once the kart are lifted by the pillars they begin to clap till you exit out of that screen.

Yeah, it's a good idea, and certainly something to keep in mind. It would add to the look and feel of the game, while hopefully not taking too much effort (never done animation work, so I don't know).

Well, it stays a lot of work to make an animation for every existing character (even more when counting the add-ons ones).

Maybe a generic "applaud" animation animation could be done... that would require some work too, but less : it would need to add markers or to rename armature bones in every character .blend file. However, with a standardized armature, a lot of animations could be added to the game, without requiring to make them for each character.

Then, it brings a (little) problem : what if we don't want Mozilla to clap his hands like Puffy, or what if they just can't (models too different one from another) ?
To bypass this issue, we could create a little "animation library" : applaud-bigchar, applaud-smallchar, applaud-oneveryspecialchar. And to link the animation to the kart, just add a "applaud-animation" entry in the kart.xml file.

Just reuse the animations that the first half do after winning a grand prix?

Yes, some kind of winning animation would be great, but it is a bit of work, esp. with the rather large variety of characters. The in-race-winning animations might not be ideal, since at least some of them assume that the kart is driving (not sure if this is in any of the official karts, might be addons only).

It shouldn't be too hard to add support for this, and characters without winning animations would be shown the way they are atm.

Using one animation for several character would be great, though I would have to look at how easy this can be supported in irrlicht.

Best way to get started: add some animation to one of the characters, post the .blend, and open a ticket to support this :)

Cheers,
Joerg
