Racetrack track

You want to add the white stripes texture above the gray one ? I don't know if this is possible to assign 2 UV textures to a face... but it is simpler to add your stripes in your texture I think, then you set your UV face by face on the image so that the stripes are well placed.

I use drawit, sketch, and pixelmator, not gimp because it doesn't have very good mac support.

At this time adding more than one UV layer is not supported by SuperTuxKart

Not if you adjust your (square) faces' UV individually on the image I think... you don't have to do it separately for each faces, in fact you'll have to do it once for the faces of the straight part of the track, and one for each type of face in the curves.

You may want to add some tires too (mainly in the turns), this is common on racetracks.

What about a figure-8 track? That would be cool. It could have a ramp that is only wide enough for 1 kart off to one side of the road near the intersection. So, you can try to do the jump to avoid hitting the oncoming cars. But, there are rocks on either side of the road across the intersection, so if you don't hit the jump just right (line it up perfectly) you go off the track and have to be rescued. So the jump is high-risk, but you avoid the possibility of crashing. To add to the reward of jumping, there could be an item on the ramp that isn't available anywhere else on the track.

That could be a great simple track ! But I think as 3dwarehouse has already begun to work on the track, he won't change everything just like that. Maybe another track if someone can make it (and heading towards a racetrack grand prix ?) ?

Of course, remember the Horizon and XR951 tracks :) It would be very cool to have slanted turns in the oval racetrack !

I am (or at least: my kids are) also in favour of a racetrack like that as in stk 0.6

Would be nice to have one this one ported.

@Jörg: maybe you remember me, we had a short time together in Aachen at the Computing Center
before you left off. Nice to see you doing something really useful.

Both race tracks (the one in the stadium as well the very old one included in previous releases) are in our media repository, and with Auria's new blender 2.5 exporter it's not much work to port them to 0.7*. Any takers? ;)

Ah, I assume you are Jens, still at the 'RZ'? Great to hear from you, and glad that you like STK. 'Something really useful' - *grin* my professional life going down the drain ;)

Cheers,
