Story Mode Ideas

Hello,

I expect as time goes on the current story plot will get boring. So an idea. You change it every now and then when you have the time (say a new one in 0.9). For story ideas I have some. Maybe you could explain why bananas are on the track.

In times of old when Tux Kart barely started the monkeys gave a gift to the game. They gave bananas from which you could get speed, weapons and delight. But Nolok put a curse upon the monkeys so that the bananas only turned out rotten insides, bombs and parachutes. The rest of the Starters gathered together and decided to give a gift. Weapons and speed to all the tracks.

But the curse didn't stop there. Once Nolok had been beaten in the race to keep GNU he took his old curse and made use of it. Suzanne became a ware-monkey at night capturing karts, steeling presents and leaving rotten bananas. She had to be stopped but the only way is to break the curse. Tux travels far and finds that it can be broken by racing the two tracks at once. Amazonian Journey and Fort Magma -- and winning both.


So there's an idea for a plot.

Hmm, that's interesting, having two villians? So you would have to beat Suzanne before beating Nolok? If so, Suzanne should drop bananas like Nolok drops gum, and maybe have yellow bowling balls and a coconut on a stick for a swatter?

Yes my idea exactly. But it is an extra challenge for the devs... mainly I just want a story change every now and then.

BTW: This is nothing against Blender. It's just an idea.

Here's some more ideas. Instead of a bowling ball, give Suzanne a coconut! The three holes are already there just like a coconut, it would just need a hairy brown texture. For the swatter maybe have a stone club on a bamboo stick, kind of a jungle tribe look. Maybe at certain times in the race Suzanne would leap out of her car into the trees and travel that way for a bit. She would throw down coconuts that would blow you up and you couldn't shoot her.

Here's how I think it should be implemented:
After the current story is completed then you could do the second part, but you wouldn't have to and you would still have everything unlocked. It would have another overworld with new challenges and scenery. I suppose this might take a lot of work, but it would add a lot more interest to the game.

Okay, Suzanne swinging is probably impossible... and mainly this was just an idea for say 0.9 of STK. Remember there are size problems.

Maybe have the second story part as a downloadable add-on?

How about no? Changing the story just to do so would be as pointless as changing the name of the game just to do so. The story is just a vehicle to present challenges in a nicer way, and even though additional refinements probably will happen there is no reason to change things radically.
