Welcome Ichsan, Vladislav, John, sNuntz and Cameron.

Are any of you involved in open source game development right now? sNuntz is interested in SuperTuxKart. Anyone else have a favorite open source game?

hi everyone. I am Cristoph a typing mistake :) Real name Christoph. But cant change :( I love STK for years. And now i got such a Win 10 pc...
I installed STK 1.0 64 and it was fine with my Saitek P990. I have another Gamepad attached. Its a wired X-Box one liquid metal. That one is detected in Dolphin Emulator as xinput device an works fine there. My Saitek gamepad is detected as dinput device and works fine also. Only STK has problems with the x-box pad. After some tests it Crashes now when i remove the usb-device (Saitek) from the pc and also when i attatch the x-box pad to the pc. with only the Saitek device it worke fine... Do i doing something wrong?
greets Christoph

Hi. I'm Digit... and it boggles my mind that I'm not already on this forum.

Long time pioneer-space-sim enthusiast, seen from time to time on the irc chan.

got poor programming aptitude, and underused artistic aptitude. hopefully some day i'll manage to find the time and energy to prioritize making some stuff for pioneer... got spaceship ideas in mind... like, i do miss the boa (and others) from frontier: first encounters. ;) and maybe some day i'll get rich enough to pour money towards pioneer developers too. *dreamer*

Hey, my name Graham Wilson and I have been making free software games (as Piga Software) on and off for fifteen years. Nothing major or terribly polished I will admit, and my output has slowed in the past few years due to moving on to more ambitious projects and having less free time (and being more interested in computer animation than video game programming these days, though there is still cross-over). Mostly I am coming onto here to try and get more feedback and motivation to work on projects, since otherwise I am mostly just bouncing ideas around off myself.

Welcome Christoph. To get an answer on STK/Xbox controller problem, you will probably need to post on the STK forum here. I don't have Windows 10 nor an Xbox controller. I don't think I've even used a controller with STK.

Welcome Mena. Do you have any programming experience? What kind of game do you envision creating?

Digit, I too am boggled why you haven't sooner. Even if we have never met. :)

Welcome Nick. Do you have a particular type of game you are interested in?

Welcome Graham. I like your pig avatar. I haven't gotten a chance to try any of your projects yet but it is something I hope to get to.

Welcome residente. STK is popular on these boards. If you ever get interested in making your own games, feel free to post about it. There are other racing games that are posted here which might be an interest. If you prefer destroying your opponents in battle over racing, there are those kinds of games in development too.

Welcome mike. Not many Unity users here. While you can release your code under a free software/open source license, the game will still require the proprietary Unity engine.

Welcome richard. Are you working on a game project? What type of games are you interested in?

My brother made it in Corel Draw for Windows 3.1.1. when he was ten based on a childhood toy that was meant to be a dog toy.

EDIT: And for any of my projects I would particularly recommend, it would be my 2016 update to Piga's Santa Drop Down (even if it is out of season). The others could really use an update (I have been meaning to port Windys to Gambas 3 with a new engine for years). My brother's adventure game, Alexei: Part IX, is also a neat if unambitious little adventure game.

Hi, I'm looking for games that have a free license. When I joined just now, the board informed me:

[quote]Information: These forums are about open source game development and not about freeware games./quote]

Works for me.

Hi-- yes, diasp.org doesn't let me reply to your posts for some reason-- the post posts, when I hit refresh it's gone. Almost every time. At least you can talk to me there, and I can talk to you here.

Guess that's my fault, I tend to put a lot of people on ignore lists when my blood pressure goes up, which is something that happens to me a lot in Diaspora discussions. I unblocked you -_-

Welcome harveyclayton. What type of game are you interested in making? Have you tried looking to see if there is an open source game that you might be able to contribute to?

What about you freemedia2018? Any projects you are involved in?

Welcome Oliver Moss. Looking at how your username has nothing to do with your name, I wonder if we should have a thread for people to explain their usernames (if they want). Any way are you working on any games? Does any project pique your interest to perhaps help with?

Creating lifeboats for the FSF (very unofficially I might add) and trying to make it easier to learn to code.

I realise that for quite a few people, it is already easy enough. And on the super-easy side of things, Logo is definitely easy enough. Only problem with Logo is that it's not always practical enough, it worked extremely well in an age where people were fascinated with anything a computer could do at all, It's undeniably successful when people want to move a cartoon cat around, but if that doesn't "feel like coding" then there's only so much it can do a lot of the time.
