Problem with the kart exporter

Problem with the kart exporter

Postby kalado » 20 Dec 2010, 07:14

Hello, I've started to model a kart based on big buck bunny and I wanted to convert, but when I try to it, i get the following message:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "stk_kart.py", line 25, in <module>
ImportError: No module named b3d_export

I put the scripts in the same directory and I can run the b3d exporter from Blender. Does anyone have an idea?

You have to put b3d script in your script directory too.
You can find this script here :

Thanks for the reply, I "fixed" the problem with a sys.path.append, I probably didn't put the b3d script in the good directory.
Here is the kart, I tested it with the 0.7 alpha version and it works. I still have to do the textures and icons.
The licence is the GPL, so feel free to play with the kart, if you want I can upload the .blend file.

Thanks, I didn't know there was already a kart for Big Buck Bunny. Is there a list of all the karts that were made?
Here's the next, I still have to works on the icons and textures, and then the animations.

Nice work, (but ;) ) In (a far) future it may have different karts for one character, so we can prepare it together easily, if you're agree :

You have a great texture , and talent to apply them on model
I have model rigged
We have interresting karts :)

So can you texture (my) bigbuckbunny and use it to ride your kart, you will win armature preparation time

?

Thanks a lot, I'm going to use your bigbuckbunny, I textured it this morning (do you think I should keep the T-shirt? I think so). Here's your Big Buck Bunny with the new texture. I've started to model a new kart because I didn't really like the other one I made.

Looks great, nice texture, good job :)
But here's a little tip : before you send a blend file, use menu File >> External Data >> Make All Paths Relative, this will make it easier for other people to use your blend, otherwise textures are broken when we open it

Thanks for the tip, here's a wip. In fact I've used your animations of the other kart, STKRudy85, but I've got a problem with the steering whell, maybe you could take a look at it.

I finally take an eye on your great model here is the changes :

Add markers
Timeline defined
Add vertices in kart's group

(All interresting windows are opened in blender)

Thanks a lot for your help, now it works fine. I'm now working a bit more on texturing. I thought about making a track based on the big buck bunny story, do you think it is a good idea?

I'm back on my kart, he's nearly finished to my eyes, I gonna do a new texture for the wings, and tweak some other details.
Now, do you think I'm planing to work on the sandtrack if nobody is already doing this.

For sand track take an eye here : http://search.freegamedev.net/artitems/search
Search for egypt I found some interesting textures

About your kart:
I like it ;) I think include it in my addon-package
Please think to reduce size at maximum
There is problem with animation (tell me if you want I check, but about time ... )

Thanks for your help, I've done a sphinx, but once I've exported it when I launch it in supertuxkart, it crashes. I joined the files, could you please look at it?
STKRudy85 {l Wrote}:Please think to reduce size at maximum

What do you mean by reducing size at maximum, are you speaking about the textures? For the animation: thanks I didn't notice.
Dakal {l Wrote}:I'd like to work with you on the sandtrack if you think i'm usefull of course. :)

Of course, I'm currently modelling a sphinx if you want to model other things related with the track I would appreciate your help.

The error message is

[Irrlicht Error] tex_coord_sets or tex_coord_set_size too big: .../data/tracks/sandtrack/sandtrack_track.b3d
[Irrlicht Error] Could not load mesh, file format seems to be unsupported: .../data/tracks/sandtrack/sandtrack_track.b3d

First time I see this error message :(
Joerg, do you have any idea what can cause this ?

Thanks for you answers, the problem was that I used projection painting, that's why there were multiple UV texture layers. But now it's working.
