Grand Prix Server online possible?

I'd find it a quite attractive feature to have an online (ideally ranked) server for contests in grand prix mode, just like in the offline game.

I'm not even a programming noob but in my conception the participants would build the grand prix together by choosing the different tracks.

What do you think?

Honestly no one plays GP in network games...

There is already GP server in options, but everyone is forced to stay for each GP (which is too long), and no one can join in the middle
