I started implementing my combat system for OpenGameArt Movie Video Game a while ago. I was implementing a D&D like system. You had a to hit bonus and rolled a d20 against the enemy's AC. Recently I played around with RPG Maker MV. It's combat system is very different. Most of the time you hit. In fact I've seen people complain about RPGs with a lot of misses. It makes me wonder if my implementation may have been a poor choice. What do you think about the typical computer RPG combat system vs. tabletop systems? Tabletop systems typically have smaller numbers. You never get thousands of hit points. Computer RPGs have a larger scale and may involve more complex math to calculate damage.
