Hello, SuperTux community! I have an addon here that is ready for release to the public! It is called "Treasure Mountain"!

Before the events of the main story, Tux went hunting for treasure. Now he finds himself on a strange new island filled with tons of treasures! This addon contains 22 new levels, each with a different theme, new images, and a new music track!

Note: This addon is not canon in any way. Just enjoy!!!

Tell me what you think of these levels! All criticism and feedback is greatly appreciated!!! And maybe add it to the add-on manager, if it's good enough? ;P

--------------------------------------------

UPDATE: NEW VERSION AVAILABLE! PLEASE DOWNLOAD!!!

Changes: Merged "Treasure Tower" with "Treasure Room"
Added a checkpoint after the intro cutscene.
Slowed down the time from normal to snowy.

NEW UPDATE: DOWNLOAD NEW VERSION!

Changes: Moved up the spawnpoint of the boss sector in "Treasure Tower" due to a bug.
Removed the fading snow, now it is normal.

Enjoy!

The addon is pretty good, but I am NitPickBot, so...
1. The last island's change from forest to snow looks very weird. I have never seen snow appear out of thin air so fast.
2. The levels are good, but I did get a bit bored sometimes by the longer levels.
3. Add a few more secrets.
4. Not very important, but those inaccessible paths are really bugging me.

Overall though, I definitely liked it. 8/10
Also, could you tell me how to set up the forest keys that are displayed in the top left corner? Thanks.

Thank you for your reply.

1. The change from snow to normal is fast because a weird effect happens when it is slow.
2. I honestly like longer levels, as long as they are designed good.
3. I might, but secrets don't seem too important. Did you find the secret exit? ;D
4. I put them there for extra decoration.

Also, on the keys, I literally just copy-pasted and deleted two of the fove keys from the old forest world.

What does anyone else think? I love lots of feedback :) :) :)

How do you make the key images on the top left appear though? I couldn't get them to appear in my levelset.

You just need to paste the "default.nut" file from the ST 0.5 forest world in your levelset.

@WeLuvGoats: First impression (first level): NIce add-on :)

Can you please add a checkpoint right after the intro text?

The level "Heavy Downpour" only shows a black screen. Is this a problem on my computer?

Just finished playing today, and I've got to say, this addon is very, very good, probably one of the best I've played in a long while. The levels and the worldmap were all very nice aesthetically. In terms of gameplay, most of the levels felt very good, about the right length, and there was a good progression of difficulty from the first level to the last, without getting too frustrating. I especially enjoyed that each of your levels had a unique theme or "gimmick", and that you grouped similarly themed levels together in each of the branching paths. I was delighted to see you taking some of the levels you've posted here previously and reworking them to make them better. I think that, along with your attention to detail, are the mark of a great level designer, and your levels have significant replay value (I'm definitely going to play them all again).

TL;DR: It's a great addon that doesn't skimp on detail but doesn't make things too complicated either. It's just right.

One major problem I encountered though: When switching to the boss sector in Treasure Tower, I always spawn inside the wooden platform moving upward and die immediately, thus making it impossible to complete the boss. Don't know if anyone else experienced this. See about getting that fixed, and I would love to see this addon get added to Supertux.

Thank you for your reply Jonathan :) About the platform, I didn't have this problem, but it seems to be due to physics, maybe because Tux spawns right on the platform? (or at least he's supposed to and doesn't have time to solidify before the platform activates :P)

Yes, it's probably something like that. I think moving the spawnpoint up about 1 tile should fix the problem.

Alright, I'm going to fix this issue and possibly one other annoyance I have with it. Also, Jonathan, are you using the original download or the updated version?

Just a quick question: Should I change the island that fades to snow, should I make it only snow, and it doesn't fade?

It's your choice, but I think you should change it so it doesn't fade.

The snow fade effect isn't related to the story and there isn't really a transition level, so I would remove it. However, the levels contain both snow and forest elements, so a mixed worldmap could fit the level style.

Yes, since it is an add-on, it will be quite difficult. Most of the levels, I believe, don't have unfair design, but some of them are hard. At least it's not as hard as Narre Land or Hume's Islands.

You must download the addon, then move it from your "Downloads" folder to your SuperTux data > addons folder. Then it should appear as an addon in the game.
