What is Laundred Sheep:

Laundred Sheep is a free and open source 3D platformer game based on Supertuxkarts Engine.
The main character is franck from the blender open movie Cosmos Laundromat.

Download:

get it at https://laundred-sheep.org/get.html (source code, stable version 0.04)

You have to build it for your system, i tested it under Linux but not under Windows or Mac.
(For Windows and Mac: there may be things to fix to make it compile)
Building instructions are in the readme.

Gameplay:

You have to collect all crystals (which are just mese crystals known from minetest). When all crystals are collected, a hidden exit opens somewhere in the level.
Currently the exit looks like a green flame, but that will be changed soon.

Latest Changes:

- Menu updates
- More playable levels
- AI / Badguys development started
- physics updates
- map exporter fixes / development

The LaundredSheep code is released under GNU GPL (see COPYING).

Interesting project. Are any engine changes going back to the STK engine to make it better for re-use as a game engine? Any particular reason for using the STK engine? Any problems encountered so far? Would be interesting to learn more about your progress and reasoning.

Very nice concept, looking forward to seeing it develop further.

Yes, a kart game engine wouln't have been my first choice, but the results look decent. I hope more or the nice Yo-Frankie assets can be revived for this project :)

There are no changes yet for a better re-use as a game-engine.

When I started development earlier, i have started with Irrlicht and included some useful parts from STK from it (Logging functions, the irrdriver class, map loading code...).
Later I re-implemented the gui and tried to re-implement more parts of the graphics engine (I was more graphics-oriented at the beginning).
I failed with implementing the graphics engine, but that gave me the idea to create the game directly out of STK (that was like a kind of restart too, but helped much).

I have planned to use the Yo-Frankie assets in the future, but the may need quality and game-style updates/changes.

Currently i have the "problem", that it does not work under Windows and Mac - (I think) - I haven't tested building it for these systems.

Edit: i had a problem adding the video directly in post, i don't know if I can do that, so I added a link to it.

Yeah, video embedding is currently broken... I think its due to the old phpBB version together with the switch to SSL. Not a big deal though.

About STK and this: Any chance you could collaborate with them to make the engine easily modable? I am sure you could safe a lot of headaches if you could just use the same binaries as released by the STK team for all platforms and just switch out the script code and assets (like common with Quake engines). Such a mod system would also allow other "total conversion mods" of STK to be much easier to do.

Anyone happen to have a copy of this game lying around? It seems to have vanished off the Internet.

Well see the link in his signature. There seems to be the complete Godot-based source code.

Edit: My mistake, sorry. Wrong link. Here's the right link:
