LaundredSheep - a 3D platformer game

Postby rubberduck » 28 Feb 2016, 12:40

Here is my new open source game LaundredSheep,

About the game:
I created a 3D platformer game, with franck from the open movie project cosmos laundromat.
I modified supertuxkart for this, at the moment the player character is from supertuxkart, and will be replaced with the sheep franck soon.
At the moment there is one playable level

How to install:
Installing / building should work like supertuxkart
first get the code and data here:
https://notabug.org/rbduck/ls-code
https://notabug.org/rbduck/ls-assets
the readme file contains more information.
building under windows and mac os x is not tested yet.
Please report if you have problems with building it, or if you have other problems (like graphics, crashes...)

Settings:
you can change settings via ingame menu, you can manually change settings in the config file (in linux .config/laundredsheep/.../config.xml

How to play:
you have to collect all three mese crystals first, then a secret / hidden exit opens somewhere.

Oh, I love 3D platformers! Looks like a nice start!

I noticed Monkey World 3D in you signature, are you still working on that? The screenshots look really good! :D

Hum, built and played a bit, still feel a lot like playing STK.
The camera angle is especially wrong, feels like you can’t see where your going.

You’ll need to work on the physic a lot to make it feel like we walk (The sheep will be walking right?).

the camera angle will be corrected later, but it is wanted, that you can't see where you are going in some parts of the map, so this is not a mistake. This is a good place to hide something like mese crystals or even the goal (which should be hidden in levels that are more difficult). I planned to add an automatic angle change in some areas of a level too.

I know too, that physics is not really good, i will try to create better physics soon. But i will work on it in a few weeks / month (short pause, taking time for other things). Physics is my next aim, i want to try an upright walking version of the character (the character does not adjust to slopes).
