Looks pretty much like what I always dreamed of for animating characters.

Have you tried it yet? I can't sadly, have to wait for the 32bit version.
What I wonder: Is it enough to build a pure deform-rig, no control bones at all, and then just lock & move the rest? The vid is a bit short, but it seems to look like that to me, if I didnt oversee something.

I wonder how well this work with split lower/upper armatures.

I'm looking forward to checking it out, but I have to wait for the 32 bit version, too. There was another video on Blendernation some months ago: http://www.blendernation.com/2012/09/23 ... more-30110

Rubbing? :D

We're poor artists, we can't afford new hard- and software! No, I'm really too lazy to upgrade. I mostly don't see a need to change a running system, because there are tons of older games that I can play instead of Crysis 2. But if this plugin won't get a 32 bit version, that could be a reason to upgrade. ;)

I'm a lazy upgrader and I've had a 64-bit system for 8 years. :S
DOSBox eased the 64-bit transition pains (2006) muchly

The bad part really is that there is no tutorial on how to use all the constrains etc. The system itself seems very nice, but the example file is way to simple to really judge and I don't have the time (or nerves) to try it all by trial and error :(

yes rigify has some issues with it... he posted a fixed version of the rigify rig on the thread linked above though.

I just listened to the latest Blender podcast, in which they mention the dilemma of not enough documentation and not enough reward for doing documentation.

Yes that is a general problem... in this case however it would probably take the developers only 5 minutes to write the documentation... but given the extreme alpha status they seem to be unwilling to do so (which I can understand to some extend).

You can now download a greatly improved version of this as a Blender custom build (with the new system hopefully being included in the main release sometimes in the not too distant future).
