Wrong forum, but I guess a mod will move it for you, so don't worry. - Done already :)
Do you actually have libogg and libvorbis installed? If not I'd start with that if I were you. ;)
Hey pal, I took an oath for justice! "In happy days or tightest tights..." or something like that.

No idea why you had to install python, it's certainly not a dependency for STK.

Can you send us the output if you run the game in a terminal? Also it would be useful to get a stack trace. To do that:
{l Code}: {l Select All Code}
gdb ./supertuxkart
run
<wait till crash>
where

Thanks!

I think this part looks bad :

Do you have good OpenGL drivers? Do other OpenGL games work?
This looks to me like it could be a bad driver issue

OpenGL drivers installation on Linux is always "risky" business.

Good thing for you that neverball works, though I believe neverball has simpler graphics than STK, so this may not be significant. I'm not sure how to go about fixing that, though; maybe you could try installing irrlicht from source and building the irrlicht samples to try them, if you feel brave.

Since other Linux users report it works fine for them, there's little I can do, sorry :(

It might be worth reporting this problem on the irrlicht forum - can you reproduce it with one of their examples? I don't think that we can do a lot about this.

i built irrlicht from source to do this install, and only 2 of the examples work, and i am willing to take the risk of install opengl drivers, if you can point me to it

BTW, will this problem be fixed by the final version?

I guess you better look into the Ubuntu docs/wiki, and/or ask on the Ubuntu forums - I am not an expert at Linux video drivers, nor is Joerg (I believe)

avbluestar14 {l Wrote}:BTW, will this problem be fixed by the final version?

Well, you said that only 2 of the irrLicht examples run; so this is not a problem with STK, but really a problem with irrLicht. You could try asking the irrLicht folks, but I would bet they'd ask you to fix your drivers.

So, no, we cannot fix that, it's impossible to do much 3D without good 3D drivers on your end
