SuperTuxKart Time Trial Leaderboards (Top 5) [unofficial)]

Postby Iridium » 17 Jun 2012, 03:17

NOTE: This post is an experiment - if things get out of control or there is no interest, I will delete. Thanks for reading!

SuperTuxKart Time Trial Leaderboards

This is a time trial leaderboard for the courses most commonly Time Trialed in SuperTuxKart. I will start out with five; please request more courses if you like, but I cannot manage more than ten at a time.
If a course does not get much activity after a while it will be dropped; however, I will keep the records from dropped courses in a text file if we need them again.

Rules

Post a record for any course listed in this post.
You can use any kart.
Use of all zippers are allowed.
RECORDS MADE WITH MODIFIED config.xml FILES ARE NOT ALLOWED - BE HONEST!
PHOTOGRAPHIC/VIDEO PROOF OF EACH TIME PLEASE! Thank you ;)
ALL RECORDS MUST BE 3 LAPS LONG! THX
ALL RECORDS MUST BE ON AN OFFICIAL BUILD OF STK! No SVN/development builds allowed :)

Posting Format

(Name) on [course] with {kart}: (time) using (STK version) [(zippers used on lap 1) - (zippers used on lap 2) - (zippers used on lap 3)]

As ctdabomb mentioned, lap amount would be important to set a rule for. Version of SuperTuxKart may be of importance as well. SVN has had some changes which might or might not impact the results, but to be sure people are competing on even grounds, limiting what versions people are using might be a good idea. The entire 0.7 series of releases should handle the same, so 0.7-0.7.3 would probably be a good way to limit it for now.

Any track that is listed, and there are 3 laps

I will start with the tracks which get posted first, and in long - term, I will keep the ones that are the most popular.
The track has to be reasonably stable of course :)

People might ask why I am not limiting the tracks to, say, the ones included in the official release.
I am not doing this because of 2 reasons:

1) It is much easier to add new tracks to stk than to compile an SVN version, so a lot more people will be doing it

2) The number of tracks in the official releases changes all the time. Since we have not hit a big milestone (like 0.8) yet, where the tracklist will stay the same for a while, I am leaving it open (for now).

Thanks!!

Why the anger? Just start out yourself and see if anyone wants to compete.

Iridium on Zen Garden with Nolok: 1:44:99 with 0.7.3 [1 - 1 - 1]

This is pretty sloppy, so I'd like to see others do better :)

Here we go - competition time :)

ShaiShap on Zen Garden with Wilber: 01:37:40 with 0.7.3

I feel kind of silly for asking, but what is a zipper?

Also, getting another track going:

ShaiShap on Fort Magma with Wilber: 02:19:71 with 0.7.3

Do you remember your zipper usage for the Zen Garden time?

Thanks for starting another track! However, there are 3 version of FM, and I'd just like to confirm which one this is. :)

I see. So it's 1-1-1 for both my results. But is there really a point in tracking that?

I didn't know that. How do I check my version? I'm using the one that came bundled with STK 0.7.3.

Ah, a funny topic. I may post some times later, too. Fort magma sounds good.
This will be much more interesting once we will have replay functionality, i guess.
By the way, I don't see a point in the screen-shot "proof" for now.

This is with nitro. Gives about 4sec on this track. Should nitro usage be disallowed maybe?

How do I get Fort Magma unlocked btw?

Indeed.

It's called "proof" for a reason (:

Also, next time, bonifarz, follow the format and don't just post the sc's please, it's just more convenient, thx

Nah, it's fine. If it's on the track and available to use from the start, then I have no issue with using it.

NaN {l Wrote}:How do I get Fort Magma unlocked btw?

Complete the challenges. Fort Magma's unlocked near the end though, so you'll have to spend a bit of time on this.

Okay, I just tried to make an ogg file to clarify which shortcut I mean here. I tried to keep it below 3MB, and any suggestions for better recording options are highly welcome. Also, I cannot record without a major drop in the games FPS, which makes good driving a matter of luck.

And sure, I will post/edit my times in the format you prefer to copy/paste. Bovine Barnyard looks very cool, but I have not managed to get below 1:25:00, as I always mess up one of three final jumps ;)
