A big big track:Mystic island

Hi,

there seems to be a bug in STK :(

The problem is that Box.b3d is missing. Now STK should report that the model is missing and not crash. Meanwhile you can fix the issue by including the Box.b3d model.

I will try to fix this bug as soon as possible

The bugs are totally fixed in SVN now. Sorry for this.

The track itself is quite fun, I think you should post it to the add-ons website :) [the main issue left before accepting it to add-ons is to write a license file]

it looks real nice, but a bit slow, and the castle part is kind of confusing. some signs would help.

Wow, this is a great track! I just drove it the first time, and must say I am really impressed. This is the most beautiful track I've ever seen in STK.
There are only three little complaints I have:
- STK is throwing error messages about a missing "stonewall.png" texture.
- On one half of the track, there is no wall. The abrupt ending of the all-surrounding wall feels a bit weird and negatively influences the nice feeling of the track a bit.
- The zippers immediately before and after the blue bridge are invisible, what makes it hard to hit them if you don't know the track.
I don't know what ctdabomb means with "less faces and signs to point the way". Speaking about the surrounding elements, I think you did a great job. It feels "complete" without being cluttered. All those flying particles create a dense atmosphere in which to drive I really like.
Take care of the points mentioned above and this will be my favorite track – no, wait, it already is. :)
Thank you a lot for this nice piece of work!

EDIT:
Just in case it matters, I tested on SVN trunk, revision 10873.

Nice improvements! This should definitely be posted to the add-ons website.

Now, I wonder if you could improve the brown cliffs to be less repetitive?

I suggest you to improve these signalizations panels which are graphically poor in comparison of the rest of track.

Totally agreed. I would actually like to see the transparent bridge improved. It makes it hard to see where to drive, and doesn't really fit the theme.

If you don't want a bridge structure there, what about a ramp? This should mostly work out of the box (put a zipper on the ramp to give karts more speed), but if you have problems, let me know.

Cheers,
Joerg

Just be warned, if you go CC0 you waive ALL rights whatsoever to the work. So if you're unsure, I suggest you read a little about the licenses and then choose one or several that you agree with.

I like also gnu GPL, but ccbysa 3.0 and ccby 3.0 are like gangraine if you select to use this license, derivated should be release under this license so if I use a model of this track in order to include it in one another free game; even if your model represent 1% of the new track I made. I have the obligation to release the global work under cc license.

note 1: because this point is rarely observed by specialists like Debian dev ( who told us to check all contrib to release game totally free) . I considered to ignore when I submit subsea to stkaddons (I invite you to check my license text, to take an eye of the numbers of model from different maker/license I used to make this track, which still my work).

note 2: I read article in blog which define CC0 (public domain) as the best free license --> no restriction

Only you can choose the best license for your work, it is your work after all :)

I've mentioned this before, but the definition of public domain is not the same in every country. Here, in Portugal, public domain works are not the same as free software/art, in fact, no single artist or developer can place his/her work in public domain. Public domain happens when a work has either been released for 70 years or the author has been dead for 70 years. And after that, public domain works are owned by the Ministry of Culture (rough translation) that will be responsible for defending the moral rights of the author.

Still, CC0 is as valid choice as any.

Note that GPL is exactly the same in this regard, GPL is also a viral license.

The definition of "public domain" is not the same in every country, however as far as I understand the definition of CC0 is - which is the reason why CC0 exists. Now the main disadvantage about CC0 is that your work may be reused without credit being given to you
