Nolok's new music track?

Postby capricom45 » 23 May 2015, 08:06

Is it me or does nolok need a menacing track for the Magma Fortress?

If yes, I'll have a sample ready by tomorrow

I think a remix of the boss theme from SuperTux would work really well in this situation. I can upload a MIDI if you think it would be helpful. If I were you I'd go for a kind of jazz/heavy metal fusion.

EDIT:

Here is a piece I wrote for Fort Magma a while back, before we decided on the current musical style of STK. I don't want it to be included anymore as it doesn't fit the game's style, it's far too long and the mixing is awful, but it might give you a few ideas. From 00:53 to 01:50 is my take on the boss theme from SuperTux.

The download will only be up for a while. I'm using Dropbox because someone somewhere, and I have no idea why, decided that 2 MB would be a good attachment size limit on this forum.

I could build a hard rock melody just for that

guitar sample: http://1drv.ms/1BhZvli (don't listen to it if volume is over 75%)

But I'm not sure if it can be accepted

Edit: Uh 0zon0ne? Can I speak with you via a PM? i'm a bit stuck

Krobonil {l Wrote}:Hmm, how about removing the first tone in each stroke?
This could take a bit of the guitars aggressiveness and give more space for an accompaniment?

Explain?

I actually like the current music, but evidently, I'm the only one that does. ;)

I actually like it too. There's not a whole lot of room for improvement in this one really. I think it's going to be quite difficult to make anything that's worth replacing the current music with, but we'll see what happens.

But I am still convinced that referencing the boss theme from SuperTux is the way to go. That piano line is the best.

I just checked and I've actually been meaning the SuperTux Fortress music, rather than the Boss music. My bad

I ended up creating a 40 seconds-long electric guitar sample, it sounds like this: http://1drv.ms/1SBUgI4 (0zone0ne, Krobonil, What do you think?)

So... you're going to add more instruments to it, right? There's no clear melody as far as I can hear. To me it sounds like part of an accompaniment

Yes, more instruments will be added once I'll have a riff stuck in my head. Not going to argue with that.

I actually have an agressive track, just for Nolok, assuming he's a dragon: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5a0TY ... sp=sharing (it doesn't loop seamlessly though)
