HELP: Using the ragdoll editor

Postby cdxbow » 20 May 2013, 12:38

Thers not much info about the ragdoll editor, perhaps this is the best: http://cubeengine.com/forum.php4?action ... t=20#69050 and there is a little in the cubewiki. The ragdoll editor and I go back a while, and its been a pretty unhappy relationship. I have made a little progress, I have finally been able to load an md5 mesh. This small victory required a number of steps, which I will list for you:
1. copy your md5 mesh file into the folder containing the ragdoll editor, this just makes it easier.
2. run ragdoll.exe. Mrfixit is the default mesh, which will load
3. type ` to bring up the console (at the bottom of the screen)
4. type loadmodel yourmodelname
5. do not be disturbed when your model does not appear to load.
6. press the - key. This will 'quicksave' your model as the quicksave default.
7. quit the editor by typing quit at the console.
8. rub your stomach anticlockwise 3 times with your left hand while patting your head with the right.
9. run ragdoll.exe again - your model should now be loaded and ready to rag and roll.

Phew, after all that I am ready to go, but wtf do I do? Is there any documentation how to actually use it? Does it do iqm or smd?

No help appears to be forthcoming?

I really don't think I will ever be able to use it.

Plan B: For the meka I want to try to mimic the core breach effect, which was sort of light beams that moved slowly as the mek died (see vid) followed by the kaboom. I have thought of a way that might make that effect and I am going to try it out soon. If it works it tends to hide the dying animation anyway. So rag doll deaths would probably not be so useful.

I haven't got a plan B for the human characters except to remind myself they are only eye candy.

I actually can't answer any of these questions, honestly. It does seem like the ragdoll editor could use a touch of RE user-friendliness added. Might wanna ticket that one on the RE tracker for me.
