Exchangeable heads?

Maybe I missed that option, but technically it should be possible (since we have headshots and seperatable heads) to swap the head model with another one now, right?

I still have that 70% ready playermodel I pimped a while back in the TF thread, and that one has a lot of head variants... so I thought if I ever finish it, exchangeable heads would be nice ;)
(btw: does MekArcade still need a set of more realistic but still somewhat futuristic playermodels? I think they would fit somehow).

Without source code mod. Kind of.
make a headless model. place the head as vanity item.

Its doable, and part of the plan for the Mek models. Unfortunately I think a model will need to be created specifically for the game as I've not been happy with the level of support these third party models have for RE specific features.

Just wondering, would it be possible to make a human head? The vanity items would probably work better on a human than on a robot helmet thing, and it could make players seem a lot more 'real'.

Humans and human looking features are a no for RE. Sorry, but this is both a design and moral decision. That thing on top of the player's head probably could be caved in though.

Nah, it looks fine as it is. My problem is with the vanity items making no sense worn over the robotic helmet, such as the afro and to a lesser extent the top hat. The spike at the back looks good, it gives the models a 'streamlined' look.

Making replacement heads would be a great way to approach vanity items IMO. There are a couple of concept art pictures on the polycount forum by the creater of the model, and it might be far-fetched to ask people to try modelling them but it would be awesome to see alternate heads like #4 and #8 in some future release.

(Also my opinion, this gives an own characteristic to the actual head.) The only question is who has a desire for making robotic heads and is able to do this in good quality? :). I find this attempt good.

Won't work with the neck. Vanity doesn't have weight paint. (no mesh deformation, so it may look unnatural since the current model isn't made to support this)
Also making a head with the "fleeky style" seems something only him can do. (he won't, most likely)

I don't really feel like having a head unsorted with the rest of the body

If this idea ever gets implemented, it would be great to see the rest of the playermodel become modular too.
upper torso/ lower torso; arms; legs; head, etc.

Would be paving the way for terminator-style limbs and being able to gib an entire arm.
