These are links to vegetation models that are configured and ready to go in the Cube2 engine, and have open licences. Some of these have appeared elsewhere in these forums, some are new and some old. I will update them as models and links are posted. Please post any links you have to vegetation models that are configured Cube2 engine and I will add them here.

I created a collection at OGA for any kind of flora. It is not tailored to 3D assets specifically, but might reduce searching times a bit.

Good to know and good to have the link-collection.

It'd really help if people would post what licenses things use along with the mention, as I can only use CC-by-sa or better (no GPL or CC-nc-nd). Generally, if I have to go searching for licenses myself, I will postpone looking at it indefinitely (I mean to do it but never get the time). Not aimed at this topic specifically, something I've been meaning to tell everyone for a while :P
PS. Yes, there are very few map models in RE, you the community can fix that by finding new open source content and posting it here!

Quin: Sorry, I have put the license type in the heading. I think public domain is OK for RE. Quick question, if the original model is PD then these derived models need to be PD or could I make them CC & SA?
Riidom: There are some nice models in your collection. I should have been more explicit, models on the master list need to be configured and 'cube engine ready' (and have licenses suitable for RE.) Maybe a second list of plant models that are not 'game ready' could be used, or maybe just continue to post them here, if they are game ready (or get converted to be suitable) then I will add the link to the master veg list. So fire up blender and get exporting......

Yes Public Domain art can be relicensed, however PD is not internationally recognized (the concept does not exist in a few countries) therefore it is generally better to put the CC0 license on assets you want to release to the "public domain".

Julius: Thanks. In the link riidom posted to the OGA vegetation I saw that some of the models were by Julius - is that you?

Yes, mostly a decade old stuff however.

04:47.53 <@arand> Well, IANAL, TINLA, but yeah, Julius is pretty much right, PD isn't really a license, unless the author's PD-note is very clear, it might be a good idea to contact them (which is I guess what they wanted to aoid by using PD in the first place :/ )
04:49.20 <@quin> well i guess craig's question was
04:49.31 <@quin> can he take a PD work, modify it, and then apply CC-by-sa
04:50.19 <@arand> Yes, CC-0 can be relicesed into any license.
04:50.38 <@quin> is the situation grey if the PD license is not CC-0?
04:52.08 <TheLastProject> I'd say "don't take the risk" because, if it isn't recognised everywhere, some countries will probably see it as complete copyrighted and, even though it's very unlikely you're getting sued or so, you can at least expect some FSF guy to go all "Your game contains non-free textures" on you again
04:52.11 <@arand> I'm going to give the lawyer answer: It depends.
I'd say steer clear of PD stuff unless it is explicitly CC-0.

Looking at the postings of Nobiaxs' work at OGA - I noticed a little CC0 under the prominent PD icon - which linked to:
http://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/I presume this means it is OK?

Yes, OGA means CC0 when they say PD.

OGA uses various licenses for their art, cc-by-sa or also cc-0.
Fortunatly, you can filter the models fairly easy by license.
For example, this are plants red eclipse could use (just those tagged with "plant"):
http://opengameart.org/art-search-advan ... ollection=There are quite some released under this license, as cdxbow already posted, the license that is used can be seen on OGA at the left sidebar.

CC-SA is fine for the palm.
