WIP: Various VTOLS

Here are three VTOLS in varying degrees of readiness for action. We have used the first as an NPC but they could also be used as eye candy. They all could benefit from better texture work. The first is a working NPC from MekArcade, I imagine this as a heavy armoured VTOL, perhaps a 'mek killer' in the sense an A10 ia a tank killer. This model is very simply animated md3, with the engines swivelling a little bit. Some engine special fx would make it better. In the image below you can see a couple of them, from above, on raidens dropship map as NPCs, the insert shows one from from below:

The next is a smaller VTOL, faster and lighter than the first, and used for recon. This currently is a mapmodel only, there are no animations with this one yet. It is sort of bird like, so I was thinking maybe the whole wing would move, not flap, but twist to provide thrust in the right direction.

The third is really at the concept stage, a heavy transport VTOL using the super stable 4 rotor configuration. This is really just 'concept art' at the moment, the fusalage was part of a plane that I tugged into this shape, unfortunately when you do things this way you amplify errors so the mesh is a bit of a mess and needs to be redone. I like the look and it is sort of believable. At some stage in the future I will work on it, but there is no time now.

All three are in the attachment. The first 2 are configured and 'ready to go' as md3 mapmodels, the first even as an npc (note there are a few issues with realism of movement and the hit box. The third is as a obj file or ms3d.

I actually like the engines in the recon VTOLs, although I must agree the rest of the body could use a cleanup. Looking at images found on Google and Wikipedia, most of them have a really simplistic design, usually white or gray with touches of color trimming parts here and there.

Nice stuff! The third one could become a more futuristic touch some way. Good to see the vehicular park growing, good work.
