Cars (to do list) - old SR 2.1 - 2.4

Ok I wanted to re-start this (I made a list in the middle of the old topic).
This here is a list of cars I want to have in SR.
But don't be shy, if you know blender and want to help just post here or on IRC.
There are 2 Wiki pages about cars: CarModeling and CarEditing (not yet finished).
I will update this post when something gets done or changes.


Many cars still need some work:
- S1, N1 use too many materials, need to put them in 1 texture, also in wheels
- LK4 and some don't have rear lights texture, LK4 needs tire texture
- ambient occlusion for like most of the cars (only ES and 3S have it)

- 3S, XM body are too low poly, need more detail, XM has no interior
- dashboard, if anybody wanted to drive from in-car camera, all cars are bad for it
(only ES is ok, but still steering wheel doesn't rotate, there aren't gauges in car just texture etc.)
- issues with roof, interior between car door windows, etc going missing when seen through car
- some holes between car body parts (XZ)


As for the new cars, there are already awesome cars made in blender.
They still need some work:
- make them low poly for game (remove subdivisions, decimate when necessary)
- UV unwrap, texturing (best is all non-body parts on 1 texture)
- exporting and testing

yes the FM isn't so good

i think that in future an addon-site could be useful, where you have other cars or tracks, when they aren't so good for main

it's only an idea

a place where the old cars and tracks are, would be good, too (for example on Repositories)

Sorry I haven't done anything like I offered to. I was hoping to make a car from scratch and I could really tell if there were ones you wanted that hadn't been started.

Hmm. So you want to make a car from start (blueprints) ? But don't know which to make ? Sorry, I didn't quite get what you meant.

Do you have a car model that you want to make ?
From the last cars topic, the cars aren't that fit for SR. But of course we can discuss.

As for my taste, well I'm just now thinking,
1. we don't have a buggy, I asked the guy who made a good one in RoR but he didn't agree (maybe yet, idk).

Those 2 and 3 would be newer model versions to our cars ES and S1 (best for rally). And with good detail could be really eye candy.

I don't know how you feel about making any of those. I'm guessing it's still a month or more of work to model a car.
And nothing more comes to my mind atm. Feel free to post a car model if you like it and think it could fit SR.
I also recently like the new UV car and some exotic ones (like the Tumbler, above) we'll see how the simulation will be with that.

That is awesome. Plus you have some really cool cars already!

I have a weird fantasy about SR evolving into an open source NFS:World*. This makes it 1 step [of 200? 2000?] closer to that fantasy!

* Except SR has decent physics ;)

TW has Speed 7 and Top-Speed is 252

XZ has Speed 9 and Top-Speed only 230 :lol:

Hah. Thanks charlie.
Yeah, top speed isn't at all important in speed, Speed is based on time from 0 to 160 km/h. Less time is better speed rating.

Hmm, yes. Speed is mostly based on that, but also has my own impression from a car about it's speed.
It's just to categorize cars, and have them sorted in list. Better car stats are ofc below.

Heh. Yeah there are many great models there from very old cars that wouldn't fit. We already have OT, just to have one.

Anyways, Ugh, men, this is such a random topic (not to say useless).
I know all the cars on blendswap, I've gone through, and seen every vehicle there. And most objects. I also keep looking at new added vehicles.
This wasn't supposed to be a topic where you randomly shout car links. What do you expect, me spending 2-6 days do have each one in game ? Would take 2 months and I would probably die throwing up triangles/polygons.
I'm dealing with the few ones which I marked in my post above. Rest is just annoying, when you open it in blender and see how much stuff it needs to UV unwrap all that or even see a million triangles, too much.
