No anti-aliasing for me

No anti-aliasing for me

Postby Wuzzy » 30 May 2013, 23:14

Sadly, I can’t turn anti-aliasing on. I can move the slider to the left and to the right, but the value always stays at zero. :-(

I have at least one other game which has anti-aliasing and it works flawlessly there, so I do not think this is a hardware issue.

OS: Linux 3.9.3
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460
Graphics card driver: the official non-free NVIDIA driver version 319.17 (shame on me, I know!)

Please help me turning on anti-aliasing.

It only works without effects. Hmm also no idea why not in editor just in game.
The implementation for effects is different (SMAA,FSAA or whatever), but since effects are either way not recommended (big Fps drop) this will stay broken (like also few effects).

For me it does not work neither in the editor nor in the game. I did not have effects turned on.

So let me get this straight: This problem is a known bug. Right?

I didn't know, worked for me. But nobody is here to fix that, I'm not keen with this topic or effects in general.

There is a fix!

Make sure the game isn't started, then edit ~/.config/stuntrally/game.cfg, search for "fsaa", replace the value which is "0" with "2", "4"... (higher being better, of course).

You can also do this for the editor, edit "editor.cfg" instead.

Save, then start the game.

Thanks, it worked. The GUI still shows a 0 and the slider is about one fifth to the right. However, I must not touch the slider because the anti-aliasing gets turned off the next time I start the game.

So it seems the game is able to handle anti-aliasing, it’s probably just the GUI which breaks it. :/
