PC freeze with solid 1 color screen (GPU hardware fail)

PC freeze with solid 1 color screen (GPU hardware fail)

So, I'm having this issue since a couple years now.
Has anyone experienced this issue too?
How many tracks in series can you drive in SR without any crashes/issues?

This is what happens: while playing SR, usually after driving on 1 to 3 tracks my PC freezes with screen filled with one solid random color. Sound is stuck looping the last buffer contents. And I can't do anything, just have to press reset button on PC.
I have this (freaking :x) issue on Windows 7 and on Debian 10 too. Both are 64 bit.
I got GeForce GTX 560 Ti. I'm using NVidia drivers (latest on Windows, 390xx on Debian).
I didn't have anything like this issue in other games (but I had just a few, I'm not a gamer).

Next weird thing I had with this issue on Windows, is that after such freeze and pressing reset, OS starts and it works, but any real Direct3D drawing causes same issue and basically I have to power off PC after reset to be sure. Sounds to me like some serious garbage left in RAM or just hardware fail.

Additionally, years ago, before this issue, on Windows 7, I had an issue where (similarly, after driving few tracks, but more) I had a crash with a message box, I think it was due some memory leak in paged-geom (which is probably still there). I could close the game and start it again. This could be something different though.

What I suspect/guess is one of reasons:
- GPU leaks or not released GPU resources? in either SR code or OGRE's (including libs).
- They "fixed" something in newer drivers and now some things (like above leaks or resources) cause such crash/freeze.
- My GPU faults (hardware gone bad, maybe GPU RAM). It is old. IDK, maybe other games didn't use much of it.
- RAM leaks in SR. I'm pretty sure some bullet objects still leak but I'm pretty sure it's nothing dangerous (RAM will be released after quit).

I'm not really sure what's the cause, I think I should first expect something wrong in SR code though. Unless nobody else had it, then its my GPU failing or drivers.

I can't recall having ever had a crash like this. One random solid color, you say? No, I'm pretty sure this never happened to me. Strange.

But I would wait for feedback from other players as well.

Right.
I had this crash now also (rarely) in other games and programs.
So I'm thinking this is rather my GPU going bad, memory failing or something. It is quite old now too (like 8 years).

If the problem is with DirectX, try this (on Windows):

1. From Command Prompt type "dxdiag" -- the diagnostics tool
2. Click on the "Dispaly" tab
3. Click on "Test Direct3D"
Deo gratias, Ave Maria
